Peak Cottage is a bright, spacious and cosy, 2 bedroomed stone-built terraced cottage located at the foot of Kinder Scout in the picturesque Peak District village of Hayfield. The cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the Peak District where you won't be short of things to do, from sightseeing to outdoor pursuits. The Snake Path to Kinder starts beside the cottage while the village provides a handy range of shops and great pubs, cafes and restaurants for eating out. The decor throughout is contemporary cottage style. The sitting room has a wood burning stove, freeview flat screen TV, DVD, stereo, WiFi, iPod docking station... and great views. Our oak floored kitchen/dining area is fully equipped to a high standard including fridge, freezer and washing machine. It has a stable door to the garden where there is outdoor seating, a BBQ and lock-up shed to store mountain bikes or outdoor gear. There's a handy outside tap with hose and brush for boot and bike washing. Bedrooms with lovely views are bright and welcoming with White Company bed-linen and towels. The bathroom has a mega shower and deep roll-top bath. Our caretaker who lives in the village is on hand should you need any assistance during your stay. Hayfield is a picturesque village full of character and historical interest with a range of shops and a variety of pubs for eating out. The 19th century stone Peak Cottage is situated at the top of Kinder Road on the edge of the village with great views across the valley from the front windows. For walkers and cyclists the Snake Path to Kinder and the High Peaks starts beside the cottage with easy access to the Pennine Way. There are also many interesting heritage locations within easy reach, including Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Lyme Park, Buxton spa town and the limestone caverns at Castleton. Best accessed by car, Hayfield lies approximately 3 miles east of New Mills, 4.5 miles south of Glossop and 10 miles north of Buxton by road. The nearest motorways are the M1, M6 & M60, with good A-road access via the A6 and A515. The cottage comes equipped with handy walking maps and guides to make the most of your time in Hayfield. We have a cot, high chair and stair-gate if needed. Parking is available on Kinder Road at the front of the cottage. Please note, due to the stone steps both at the front and back of the property and steep internal stairs it won't be suitable for all.
