Mary Adeline Cabin at Welch Farm

Spend several days with us exploring the farm or as a jumping off point to venture to other locations around Downeast Maine and Canada. The Mary Adeline Cabin is one of two rustic cabins nestled in the woods looking out onto the farm. The cabin has two full-size beds, a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom with shower, and a front porch for those quiet nights sipping wine or early mornings drinking coffee. Guests have access to the farm's back fields, walking trails, scenic picnic area on top of Blueberry Hill overlooking the majestic view of the Atlantic Ocean (a walk but the view is well worth it), the farm's private rocky beach and shore front. Guests can pick wild blueberries (in season) and enjoy them for breakfast or dessert. We love to meet new people and see old friends. We know the area well and are always willing to give directions, make suggestions, and help with any needs you might have. If you would like to cook your own lobsters or clams, please let us know. We'd be glad to contact our local fishermen and get them fresh from the boat for you. Since fishing can be dependent on the weather and tides, advance notice before arrival will be needed. Roque Bluffs is a small coastal town along the Englishman's Bay with a population of 300 and located about mid way between Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor and St. Stephen, New Brunswick Canada. Lobster fishing and Blueberry farming is still a major source of revenue here. Located near the farm is the Roque Bluffs State Park. The park truly remains undiscovered by the masses. Comb the Park's beach, swim in it's freshwater pond or hike one of it's hiking trails. A grocery store and the walkable downtown of Machias is a 10 minute drive away. Several restaurants are a must try in the area. Interested in a two nation vacation, bring your passport. We are 1/2 hour from Campobello Island, Canada (home of President Roosevelt's cottage) and 1 hour from New Brunswick, Canada A car is needed for getting around the area since public transportation isn't available. You can park your car at your cabin. There is plenty of parking at the farm for boat trailers, if you wish to bring your boat and take advantage of the Roque Bluffs Boat landing. We also welcome Bikers and can accommodate parking your car while you bike the area. Welch Farm has been family owned since 1912. We are a working lowbush (wild) blueberry farm. We are busiest late summer during our berry harvest. We still harvesting some of the fields just the way our Grandparents did, by hand with a blueberry rake. During the summer, we also offer public farm tours, where visitors can learn about this tiny, flavorful, nutrient-packed fruit indigenous to Maine.
