Garden Apartment, recently featured in Vie a la Campagne (June-July 2018), is located on the ground floor of a converted barn. It has a wrap around wood terrace, spacious bathroom, galley kitchen, bar, a corner niche for curling up with a book in the evenings, and a large refectory table to spread maps out on. Private entrance at the side of the building and can relax or sunbathe on the terrace and garden which overlook a well maintained vineyard. Among the historical sites within walking distance Mont St Jean boasts the oldest medieval hospice in France, a Chateau and a lavoir. You will be spoilt for choice if you enjoy walking or bird watching. There is a tennis court available to hire from the Marie. On august 15th Mont St Jean hosts the largest brocante in the Cote D,Or. This vibrant antique French market is a magical experience for those treasure hunters out there. Vide Greniers are held weekly in neighbouring villages during the summer months. Saturday morning food markets at either Beaune or Saulieu are not to be missed. Other activities: Horse riding, cycling, walking, golf and water sports. The region is peppered by numerous châteaux and historical sites notably Abbaye de Fontenay (a world UNESCO heritage site), Château de Bussy-Rabutin, Château de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, Château de Commarin, Alésia, Château de la Rochepot, Château du Clos de Vougeot and Abbaye de Citeaux. For golf lovers the Retreat is a 12 minute drive to a lovely golf course at Château de Chailly. The Morvan National Park is noted for its lakes and wonderful walks. The medieval villages and larger towns of Semur-en-Auxois, Flavigny-sur-Ozerin, Avallon, Beaune, Autun, Dijon, Chablis, Noyers and Vézelay, are all worthy of a visit.
