Ulverston also has a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants and cafés, and hosts various events and festivals throughout the year. Backbarrow and Newby Bridge are just a 10-minute drive away, where families with children can enjoy the Lakeland Motor Museum, South Lakes Zoo and the Lakes Aquarium. You can also take a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway or take a boat cruise across Lake Windermere.
