Close to nature, self-contained (Hidden by Airbnb) Cottage is full of rustic charm in the beautiful Adelaide foothills, a prime location within easy reach of the city, beaches, hills, national park and wineries. Our hope is that you will feel comfortable and accommodated, able to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of this area. We are located at the end of a quiet, no-through street. When you arrive, you'll find most things you'll need coffee, milk etc plus other information on how to maximise your stay. The accommodation of (Hidden by Airbnb) Cottage consists of one large main room which easily accommodates 2 - 4 people. There is a queen-size bed, hanging space and chest-of-drawers. The room includes a sitting area with sofa bed (double), coffee table and TV. The equipped kitchen-dining area has a breakfast bar, and dining table with four chairs. The cottage can be warm in winter or cool in summer with use of the quiet reverse-cycle air-conditioning unit. I do offer Wi-Fi at no extra cost. Please note; it is a home Wi-Fi of which the signal can sometimes reach the cottage. ie. It is free and if you can get a connection then please use it. It is better if you use your own mobile-data if you want to have a reliable connection. The separate and self-contained bathroom is a step away from the front door of the cottage and has a shower, toilet and basin. Again, this is completely private for guests of the cottage to use. The shower delivers hot water at the turn of a dial. There are views across the hills from the shower's 'open-air viewing window'; you may see a koala right up close, or maybe a cockatoo or rainbow lorikeet. Due to the open-air window, the bathroom can be 'coolish' in the winter time. NOTE: The bathroom is an outdoor room with a gas powered shower. The water is mains supplied, however, this is not a power shower! It is a cute, clean, modest shower arrangement, especially designed for the nature-lover in us all! If you are bringing a bike, there is a large undercover gazebo area for you to store it. There are many excellent mountain biking trails close by, highly recommended. Parking: street parking only. There is no parking available in the private driveway or carports due to said areas being in constant use. Please park your vehicle on the quiet, no through street. Please note: my listing is not suitable for very young children (ie. under 3). The lower half of the garden nearest to the cottage itself has some seating, where you can enjoy a cuppa and a rest! Or gaze up at our ancient giant gum tree and watch the birds fly in and out. We have a very large block and the cottage is a fair distance from the main house where my family and I live. Privacy is to be respected for all concerned. Guests are welcomed and given a key upon arrival and are welcome to come and go as you please throughout your stay. Please ensure the key is returned at the end of your stay. You may see us around the property from time to time, tending to the chooks, veggie gardens, etc. We live in the main property, so are always around, however, due to other commitments (work, family, etc) you won’t see much of us unless you need to! You won't be disturbed unless you have any questions. (Hidden by Airbnb) Cottage is strictly a non-smoking, no pets area. There is plentiful, safe street parking. Please note: there is NO parking in the private driveway or carport areas, due to said spaces being in constant use. We are at the end of a quiet no-through street, where you can safely park your vehicle. The cottage is located at the end of our large garden; we will direct you to the separate guest access, via a pathway at the side of the main property, through the scenic garden to the cottage itself. Please note there is a sloping walk of approximately 50 metres from street to cottage. (Hidden by Airbnb) Cottage is approx 30 metres apart from the main house, so your stay is very private. Other points Tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt & pepper and fresh milk is supplied for your stay. There is usually a packet of biscuits or some other type of 'snacky' food too. Due to our lovely, natural surroundings, please be aware of nocturnal activity and sounds of possums and koalas. We also enjoy an abundance of bird life. We’ve even had the occasional kangaroo hop into the garden! Earlier check-in or later check-out may be available, depending on other bookings. Please request as early as possible. Unfortunately, (Hidden by Airbnb) Cottage is not suitable for people with mobility issues due to steps and sloping walkways. Also, in nearby Coromandel Valley, there is the popular Duck Inn, which has a lovely outdoor decking area enjoying a great ambiance for dining from their excellent menu, seven days a week. There’s also a busy bakery and a number of other shops situated there. We are close to scenic locations, some within a pleasant stroll, or some just a short (5 minute) drive away. Almost at our doorstep is Blackwood Forest, a large forested reserve of land that has walking trails throughout. There is also the Frank Smith Oval with its wetlands. Adjacent to that is the historical Magarey Orchard (or Nunkri Orchard) with farm-door sales of the apples and pears they grow. There’s the Sturt River Linear Path Walk (which leads to the Duck Inn). These are all within walking distance from (Hidden by Airbnb) Cottage. There are also various walking or cycling trails in the area. Belair National Park is a short drive away, or indeed, an enjoyable longer walk along the creek path, stopping along the way at the popular Joan’s Pantry café for refreshments. Another attraction for this area, are the multiple mountain biking trails, for a whole variety of skill levels. (Note: my listing has a large covered gazebo space to store bicycles.) It is just a 12-minute walk to Coromandel Valley train station where you can catch a train into the city. Or jump in your car to explore the Adelaide Hills, Adelaide’s pristine beaches and the many wineries. Alternatively, maybe just stay in, read books, watch a movie, drink hot coffee and relax. The town centre of Blackwood is only a 15-minute walk or 2-minute drive away. There you can browse the shops or have a delicious lunch, or drink at one of the many cafes or restaurants. There are also supermarkets, bottle shops, pharmacies, an excellent laundromat and service stations in central Blackwood. A little further on is the popular Belair Hotel in Glenalta. Please treat my cottage kindly. It is a part of my home and I would appreciate it being used respectfully. House rules include washing up your used dishes and keeping things in good order, ie. any spillage on the floor to be wiped up immediately with paper towel provided. Please throw rubbish in the bin(s) provided. Unfortunately, my listing is not suitable for children or infants under 3 years old. Parking: there is no parking in the private driveway/carport due to said areas being in constant use - all guest's vehicles will need to park on the quiet, no-through street. Note regarding WiFi availability: not all devices pick up our WiFi signal. The sign-in details are provided for your use, but I can not guarantee a connection. Many thanks, your host.
