Olde Blue Bell Barn is a warm cottage with a south westerly aspect, catching the sun throughout the day, and witnessing stunning sunsets. Located in the quiet village of Heversham, you can walk from the door for fabulous views of the Cumbrian Fells and coastline. For a relaxing drink or meal, Heversham Hotel, an 19th century beautifully refurbished pub, is a 5 minute walk. We will provide a warm welcome to all, dogs and children most especially. Olde Blue Bell Barn is a light airy cottage with a south-westerly aspect, making for a sunny and relaxed feel in the lounge & dining room. You can recline on the leather sofas, coffee or glass of wine in hand, with views of the hills or evening sunset. There is a separate kitchen fully equipped with all modern appliances including dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, oven and halogen hob. You will also find all the basic essentials such as dishwasher tablets, foil, cling film, kitchen roll, spices etc, so that you can get straight on with your holiday, a home from home. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a large double room and a twin room. There is also a full size single that can be put in the double bedroom if required. All beds have quality mattresses so you can get a good night’s sleep. The bathroom is newly fitted with electric shower and large bath for a luxurious soak after a day on the fells. Under floor heating provides extra comfort. Toiletries, hair dryer & iron are provided. Full gas central heating can be set by you to a temperature of your liking, ensuring the cottage is cosy at all times. Free super fast wireless internet is provided, as well as a smart flat screen digital TV, DVD player, & bluetooth speakers with radio. At the front of the cottages is a courtyard garden and a fenced garden to the rear catching the afternoon sun, ideal for relaxing in and safe for both young children and dogs. There is a garden table and chairs for dining al fresco or simply having a relaxing glass of wine at the end of the day. The village play park is a stone’s throw from the cottage, ideal for young children. We live nearby so are on hand for any local information or help if needed, and provide you with a mobile telephone number for 24 hour accessibility. We will also call round to welcome you, make sure you have found everything you need and provide you with some local information re amenities, walks, places to eat, etc. Heversham has a fabulous location, set in the middle of farmland and rolling hills, you can see the coastline and it is only a few miles to Lake Windermere. For local conveniences, the village of Milnthorpe is just a mile away, where you can buy almost anything, from sticky toffee pudding to a tailored men’s suit! Booths supermarket is open daily until 10pm, Number 17 Restaurant and bar provide a top quality meal out, Mirror Mirror is there for holiday beauty treatments, and there are Indian, Chinese and Pizza takeaways for easy holiday dining. There is also a beautiful village pub, Heversham Hotel, a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Heversham is a rural village and the best way to see the area to it's full potential is by car. However, there is a bus that runs hourly through the village travelling all the way through the Lake District via Windermere and Ambleside, right up to Keswick in the north. Or you could take the bus to the market town of Kendal (6 miles) for shopping and culture. You can also catch a train from Kendal for more site seeing. You can walk from the cottage door up the hill of Heversham Head for stunning views of the Lakeland fells and estuary. Alternatively, a 10 minute car journey will get you to the coastline at Arnside for walks along the estuary or up the Knott for the most outstanding views. For hardened walkers check out the Kentmere Round, a strenuous 12 mile mountainous horseshoe walk that links with High Street, the old Roman route that passes over the top of the mountains from North to South Cumbria. We will be happy to offer walk suggestions to you, whatever the make up of your group.
