A Listed 17th Century farmhouse with views over a private lake and the Alyn Valley beyond. Situated on the west side of the Clwydians within farmland and surrounded by open countryside, the property is a comfortable secret hideaway to explore North Wales; with private garden, covered parking and washing/drying facilities. The cottage also features, inglenook lounge area and dining room. Wifi, Books, games, maps and TV/DVD/Stereo are standard. Catering available upon request. The White Cottage is a warm, cosy retreat built with rustic 16th century ship timber and faced in stone. It has always been known as the white cottage throughout history and is a local landmark of sorts. In the war it was used as a reference point for luftwaffe navigators on their bombing raids over Liverpool, subsequently it was painted green to deter invading aircraft! It is situated in a farm with plenty of space and easy access to local amenities. The two bedroom cottage comes with a full kitchen consisting microwave, oven/grill and dish washer, a utility room with washer and freezer, lounge with inglenook, dining room with evening cutlery and crockery, books, games and maps, bathroom with corner bath and shower, one double bedroom and a second double bedroom which also has a single bed and en-suite toilet. There is plenty of wardrobe space and spare drawers. The building is old, very old (1609) and this is reflected in the not-so-flat floors and wattle and daub walls. Underneath the carpet downstairs is the original flag stone and quarry tiles. It has a character of its own and if your after a modern stay then this cottage is probably not for you, having said that every modernisation has been made to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. Being nestled on the foothills of the Clwydian mountains we are in an area of outstanding natural beauty, five minutes from Moel Famau with good hiking, mountain biking and a 30 min drive from the beach. Loggerheads countrypark is 5 mins up the road. There is a local town with excellent restaurants and a celebrated street market two days per week with produce including fresh meats and vegetables. A thriving food festival brings 20'000 people to the town every September. There are is also an abundance of fantastic local pubs to explore on many of the well accessed footpaths. Please see our brochure on arrival for local recommendations and further information. You enter by taking the drive named Fron Isa Farm. As you come down the drive into the farm yard The White Cottage is on your right. Please note that the building to the left are separate dwellings and most likely occupied. We therefore ask that you respect others when leaving or entering the property. Parking can be either covered or uncovered and we can allocate space for you in one of the garages or the barn on arrival. We operate a one way system when driving on the farm and ask that you follow the route. parking directly outside the cottage is perfectly fine for when you arrive, leave or are dropping off etc but we also please ask that you use the parking space provided to keep the one way system flowing! Further afield you are 45 minutes from Betws-y-Coed/ Snowdon and an hour from Anglesey. In the other direction Chester is 20 mins, Liverpool 35 mins (you can get the train for aprox £10 return and is a lovely day out) Manchester is an hour. Dogs are permitted. But we would ask owners with puppies or younger untrained dogs to keep their dog on a lead at all times when outside. There is cattle in the fields for most of the summer months. We have a specified paddock for your dog to run around in. We can also offer a daily dog care service should you require.
