The Gascony Farmhouse-SW France

For an unforgettable vacation in a traditional, non-touristy area of SW France, come stay at the Gascony Farmhouse! A quiet, tranquil area in Gascony, The Farmhouse is a special place... you cant help but to always be outside, weather walking through the giant oak tree lined lane to pick grapes from the vineyards, or to sit beside the pond reading a book....its sooo quiet, and peaceful, with not a neighbor in sight for several hectares.. just the birds chirping in the background, and maybe a deer passing by. Lounge under the umbrella in the central courtyard, then work your way over to the outdoor BBQ terrace for a long lovely meal, a glass of wine, and relax..... * 3 bedrooms: two with double beds, and one room with 2 single beds | Crisp linens and fluffy douvets provided * Living room with Basque fireplace | TV, DVD, HiFi + CD, board games | music, books, movie library * Nicely equipped kitchen that leads to the sunny outdoor BBQ terrace * Dining room with farmers table that seats 6 people with views of front lawn, and terrace. *Separate WC | Shower room with italian shower, pedestal sink, and towel heater - big fluffy towels and bath accessories provided. *Washing machine and outdoor clothesline | dishwasher + cleaning products too. *Baby crib and accessories available, please inform in advance. *well behaved pets are allowed but just to let you know, we dont have a fence on the property and we require a 30 euro charge per pet (extra cleaning, etc) THINGS TO DO: on site: bike and walking trails to view chateaux and medieval villages, and local wildlife, pond and wishing well, pear and apple, pear and cherry trees on property, sunflower and grape vineyards surround property. 5-15 minutes by car: local farmers markets, quaint villages, gastronomic restaurants, horseback riding, brocantes, hiking, biking, and of course banks, boulangeries, butchers, supermarkets...all the modern necessities. 40-70 minutes by car: Medieval villages such as Fources, Condom, Eauze, Mont de Marsan, Agen = markets, chateaux, boutiques, adventure parks, canal boat rides which are not to miss! 1-2 hours drive: The Pyrenees Mountains for hiking and skiing, The beaches and dunes of the Atlantic coast, The Basque country with its ports and quaint villages, Bordeaux for the wine tours, chateaux and fabulous shopping, Toulouse a very cool, quaint city. I highly recommend all these local places, but funny enough, our guests tend to linger around the property and local villages...I guess they get swept up in the local slow pace of magical Gascony....come and visit! The house and the property of 1 hectare are all yours! It is a very tranquil and private place-no neighbors for fields, and fields away! Your host, Jodi lives about 5 minutes away, and is there for any questions you have or advice about fun things to do in the area. If you dont mind that your neighbors are passing deers and rabbits, well, this is the place for you! 2 1/2 acres of property with a pond & wishing well, ancient oak trees, a playing field, fruit trees...with views of vineyards and fields of sunflowers (season depending). Nearby are traditional medieval villages with their farmers markets and summer festivals, thermal/spa villages, and of course the famous Gascon gastronomy! Restaurants serving the traditional menu of the region - from local neighborhood places to Michelin starred- within a 10 minute drive! **This is the perfect area if you are sporty and looking for adventure! We offer bikes which you can use on the several green routes nearby that take you through forests, past castles, and through medieval villages! There is also canoeing, riverboat rides, hiking (in the Pyrenees mountains!) acrobranch park, fishing, paintball, horseback riding, and much more! Beyond you will find the beach's, Pyrenees mountains for hiking, and the beautiful villes of Toulouse and Bordeaux! All worth a day trip from the vacation home! There is a bus route from nearby Gabarret that leads to the larger villages. Train station is in Mont-de-Marsan, about 45 minutes from the Farmhouse. The entire home is all yours, along with the land of 1 hectare (2.5 acres) that includes a pond, wishing well, BBQ terrace, and front terrace lounge! I live only 5 minutes from the Farmhouse, so whatever you need, be it advice on where to go, pre-made reservations for wine tours or restaurants, I want to be your "hostess with the mostest!" Your neighbors are wild deer and rabbits, but not far you will pass castles and medieval villages with the farmers markets and friendly people. There are "green trails" for walking and biking, and wine tours for tasting! Come discover Gascony! There are busses, and a train station 45 minutes away.
