Old Suffolk Farmhouse

The farmhouse is a grade II listed building dating back to the 16th century. It has recently been renovated to restore it to its original rustic origins. There is a large well kept garden and outside space including a tennis court, hot tub and a new gym. The town of Stowmarket is 2.5 miles away with a good selection of shops plus the museum of East Anglian life. There are many country pubs nearby with restaurants. We are in the very heart of Suffolk, inbetween Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich. This property is not suitable for groups of young people who want to party due to the proximity of neighbouring properties. This farmhouse has been described as having the wow factor by everyone who has viewed it. It is set in beautiful agricultural countryside and is in the heart of Suffolk which makes for easy access to the coast, towns, forests and heathlands. Whether you want to go out and explore and be active or to stay put and enjoy the garden facilities, including the hot tub, and just relax, then this house is for you. I have made good use of the lock down closure to provide an extensive, well equipped gym in conjunction with Manor Gyms of London. If you would like to use the gym during your stay, please speak to Desiree who will provide you with a health check form and liability waiver to complete before using. The infrared sauna will need to be booked for specific times, again ask Desiree for details. There is a stairlift to the upstairs and a wet room on the ground floor for those who may have limited mobility. A wheelchair can be available on request. A travel cot, high chair, stair gate and bedside guard can be provided on request for young guests. The whole house, hot tub and summerhouse are for the exclusive use of guests staying in the farmhouse. The tennis court, Wendy house and top garden is shared with guests in the wagon and pavilion. Please note that this is a grass tennis court and is not suitable for use during the winter months. I live next door to the property and am happy to be contacted by the guests, I will advise on my availability at check in. The Punch Bowl pub in Battisford offers village hospitality and a good menu with some locally sourced food. The Mid-Suffolk area has many and varied restaurants to cater for all tastes. There are brochures and leaflets in the house advising on local facilities. Stowmarket leisure centre has a large swimming pool, squash courts and gym facilities. There is a soft play area for the youngsters. The Museum of East Anglian Life on the Abbots Hall estate is worth a visit if you like to know about the history of the area you are staying in. The Regal cinema has current films showing and the John Peel Centre has live music, plays and exhibitions. A car is the easiest way to get around Suffolk, but if you want to stay local then walking is an option. If you want to travel further afield then the mainline train station in Stowmarket has trains to Ipswich, London, Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge. There is a pavilion in the garden which is for guests staying in a showman’s wagon in the orchard at the far end of the garden. The wagon is also listed on Airbnb and if you wanted to include it for accommodation during your stay then a discount would be applied.
