Quirky Garden Lodge Retreat in Bath
The lodge is tucked away at the end of a long garden, away from the main house, fully contained, where guests have private use of the lodge and upper garden. With lots of charm and character it makes the consummate hideaway with its unique, quirky style, a cosy cabin bed for two and additional sleeping on the mezzanine floor. The high ceiling, wooden floor and exposed beams offer a light and airy feel, with French windows opening onto the deck. A perfect base for exploring the heritage city. Perfect for two people but with the added benefit of an extra double bed on the mezzanine floor for older children or agile adults. Note the mezzanine is at a high level and accessed by fixed ladder. The lodge is equipped with a fridge, oven and hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and basic kitchen items. Free on street parking is available and there are bicycles to borrow and a fire pit. In addition, the lodge is fully equipped for office use with a workspace area ideally suited for a home from home office. We try to run the lodge on eco principles as much as possible; the waste here is treated by a natural biological system which is kind to the environment. There is an inside compost toilet and the water from the shower and sink is collected for reuse on the garden. Materials used in the fit out have been repurposed from elsewhere and reused. We are on hand should you need anything but your accommodation is exclusive for you and well away from the main house. Situated in Combe Down village, a quiet historic suburb of Bath, it is not only ideal for visiting the world heritage city but the beautiful surrounding countryside is on your doorstep with some lovely country pubs and cafes to walk to. For a great breakfast Combe Down has one of the best deli/café’s in Bath, a 5 minute walk away. The University of Bath is also nearby, as is the Bath Skyline walk and the Sustrans Two Tunnels Cycleway. It is a pleasant downhill walk to the city centre, past the National Trust gardens of Ralph Allen’s Prior Park, with a regular bus service to bring you back. The hop on hop off sightseeing bus also passes the end of the road, which will also take you to the centre. The lodge has limited washing up facilities for crockery but we are more than happy to collect dirty dishes in the morning and return them clean later in the day. Alternatively there is an outside washing up station if you prefer.
