Pretty cottage near Dartmoor & breakfast included
A pretty cottage in a village near to Dartmoor National Park [breakfast too!] It's a lovely, typical Devon cottage which is over 250 years old with low ceilings, a stable door and a cottage garden. Please contact me if you have any queries or questions. It's a very rural setting with lovely countryside views. The cottage is set within Bickington village, with it's beautiful small church and pleasant walks all around. The pub the Dartmoor Halfway Inn is a 10 minute stroll away through the village. It's probably best with a car but people have stayed with bikes. You can arrive at Newton Abbot station and cycle to the cottage, a distance of about 8 miles. There are countryside walks around the village and you can walk to Dartmoor which is 4 miles. Alternatively, the Haytor Hoppa bus on Saturdays can take you around Dartmoor, the beautiful national park that Devon is famous for. There is the X38 bus, too, which passes by the cottage on route between Exeter and Plymouth, visiting Ashburton, a moorland town with many artisan shops and a superb bakery. It also goes to Buckfastleigh and Buckfast Abbey, home to monks and tasty homemade mead and honey! There is something for everybody here: beaches at Teignmouth, Torquay and Dawlish. At Oddicombe beach near Torquay, there is a cliff railway which leads down to a lovely small beach with a superb café on it; there is a waterfall park at Becky Falls to walk around and admire; a working prison on Dartmoor at Princetown to see; gorgeous Devon thatched pubs to try out on Dartmoor particularly Devon 'scrumpy', real old Devon cider not to mention cream teas with clotted cream and scenery to die for. Bookings can be taken and unblocked on Sun nights if guests adhere to a strict check out time at 7.45. Apologies but I work and need to leave by 8 am. Friday check in may be later because I may have to tutor until 6.30pm.
