Experience forest bathing and nature walks in a ‘Pretty as a picture’ part of the mountains. Ours is a warm, cosy & rustic cottage built in stone & wood nestled in an idyllic village in Naggar- amidst beautiful apple orchards and lush pine forests all around. We are always looking forward to hosting creative fun people, solo travellers, mountain enthusiasts, or just wonderful human folk who are looking for a break from their everyday lives. We will be waiting for an inquiry from you! The cottage overlooks the ‘BadaBhangal’ range with beautiful panoramic views of the 5000 metres plus snow peaks. The calm and picturesque surrounds makes it an ideal spot for artists, writers, musicians and the like. Secluded, yet a 10 minute walk up from Naggar town (with quaint cafe’s and restaurants), we offer an interesting & tranquil abode for traveler's looking to live privately. Our cottage is a homely cheerful space with lots of warmth and a creative vibe, modern comforts and well...most importantly its that inexplicable closeness to nature that wefts through all parts of the house. The home has a lush garden where we also grow our own vegetables, salads & herbs. You are more than welcome to savor some of the fresh produce. We have a kitchen veranda on the Ground floor with dining seating, a bigger veranda above it and a terrace for as much sun bathing & relaxing with views all around. The overall interior ambience is homespun with personal touches, artistic yet contemporary and minimal. The room we are letting out is our Guest room/studio with its own entry and en-suite bathroom, with lots of natural light. In fact you’ll get to savor the first rays at dawn. The room is equipped with a double bed, Workstation+ chair and a heater plus over-bed electric blanket for the winter months. You also have the option of using the workstation in the covered veranda space outside the room. We are an animal friendly home but we are sorry we will not be able to accommodate your pets as we have a pet cat who is not as animal friendly. Pet owners kindly excuse. Feel free to use the open area's - veranda’s, garden & terrace. There are also enough beautiful spots in the orchard where you can sleep, do Yoga, read, sketch, or just stare into nothing. The kitchen and tandoor lounge is our private space. If we aren’t too busy, you could pop into kitchen too- who knows, maybe we can share a recipe or two! We both work in the creative arts (musician & designer/illustrator) and spend our time practicing or working on our freelance projects. However, we are always in the adjoining space (with a separate entrance) to provide assistance as and when needed. This is not a hotel; it is our home which we are opening up to you, and more of a social stay. We would love to interact with you over a drink or cup of coffee and know more about your travels, adventures and if you play any instruments or sing we could also jam in the evenings. We also have a collection of some 300 odd books in our library which you are welcome to feast on while you are here. Of course we do respect your space and you can have complete privacy too if thats what you are after :) There are some very pretty mountain trails & hikes from the house. Great for those into morning walks, food foraging, bird watching and the forest explorers. We are always there to guide you with-these and other treks & hikes around the area. The gentle 10 minute walk from the main Hub of Naggar town to our home starts from a bend along Naggar Castle road and then a Pugdandi - forest path -all the way along a fresh water stream in a dense Pine and Deodar forest. You will also see traditional houses and ancient temples along the way, children walking to school & women going about their knitting with the cows. Easy village life! To reach our home: Delhi to Naggar is about 526 km. Those driving up in own vehicles can do a 12 hour drive, but an early AM start is recommended. You can also break overnight journey in Chandigarh or Bilaspur. If you take the Flight/Shatabdi Express train to Chandigarh, you can then take a private cab or Volvo bus from Chandigarh to Manali. Naggar is 20 kms short of Manali & all buses stop en route at Patlikuhal, which is the disembarking point for Naggar. Indian (Airlines) runs the only direct 1-hour Delhi-Kullu flights. Being monopoly sectors the flights may be expensive at a short notice and if planned in advance, it works out inexpensive. Naggar is less than an hour away from Bhunter Airport. We can arrange pick-up & drop from & to the airport if required. Luxury Volvo Buses plying between Delhi and Manali have been found quite efficient. Starting from Delhi around 7 pm, you arrive in Patlikuhal by 7 am. A Ten minute cab ride brings you to Naggar Castle road & thereafter its a 15 mins walk to our cottage. Local transportation around the area: Auto rickshaws, buses & private taxi's Most of the Naggar shops, restaurants, cafe's, The Castle, Roerich Gallery and adjoining spots are within 10-15 minute walk from our place. Jana waterfall, a scenic destination is about 40 minute drive and a must go for local food and exploring the charming Jana village. Kais monastery, another tourist attraction is around 7kms away. The lovely Soyal village with its gurgling streams & local food Dhaba's is also just 7 kms away. We have a small menu of healthy and wholesome vegetarian meals for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner which we'd be happy to cook for you on order. Breakfast is of course included in the nightly price. Lunch and Dinner are priced at Rs 250 per meal per person. And there is always some home-made cake to munch on in the kitchen :) Meal timings: Breakfast - Between 9.30 to 11am Lunch - Between 1 to 2pm Dinner - Between 8 to 9.30pm NOTE: We do not serve alcohol, soft drinks, soda, cigarettes, chips, biscuits and the likes. Guests are requested to carry their own. Additional Requirements Charge:  Electric Heater - Rs. 300 per day Laundry : Twice a week. Charge - Rs 200/Load INTERNET & ELECTRICITY: We have wireless broadband with pretty good speeds for all your work & entertainment needs. We & all our guests use the same for work or you can also use your Airtel or Jio connections. Electricity is pretty consistent 24/7. Rare chance of a minor outage at times due to maintenance work might occur which is almost always informed in advance by the authorities & usually rectified asap. Our Homestay is not suitable for infants or children of all age groups. Sorry! Being in an eco-sensitive part of the Himalayan forests, we try to do our bit to save tree's and the environment. Hence we do not encourage the use of wood burning for winter bonfires. We suggest you wear closed shoes & carry and umbrella and torch along. If you are coming with more bags and need assistance with your luggage we can arrange porter/s as required. We also have a few taxi operator service contacts handy if you need pick up & drop from/to the Bus stand or Airport. We look forward to hearing from you!
