Le Clos d'Almide: Borie Sémillon
Somewhere to get away from it all! Located in the grounds of Le Clos d'Almide, 'Sémillon' is one of 4 stone 'Bories' nestled amid roses, jasmin & pine trees, surrounded by vineyards, open countryside and bird song! Spacious one room accommodation, relaxing decor & private shower room. Culture, history, chateaux, vineyards & local markets Easy access to Bergerac, Sarlat, St. Emilion, Bordeaux and the Atlantic Coast 27 hole golf course a 5 minute drive away Airports: Bergerac 19km, Bordeaux 98km Bories were often single storey, dry stone wall cabins where shepherds would weather out a storm or sleep during lambing. Our Bories resemble stone yurts and are surprisingly spacious inside. Each one has an ensuite shower room, a small lounge area, relaxing décor, beautiful bedding and a private outdoor seating area. Please note: The Borie is B&B not a 'gite', and therefore does not have a kitchen. The breakfast room is part of the main house, and has (free) wi-fi, local information brochures, and games & books to borrow. You can gather round the tables under the pergola, settle on the sunbeds by the pool, or wander around the grounds and find discreet seating placed in spots to make the most of the scenery, sunrises and sunsets! There's table tennis, badminton and, for summer 2019, a pétanque court! I'll see you when you arrive and at breakfast, but should you need anything during your stay please don't hesitate to come & find me. If you'd like something special in your room on arrival, want to organise a picnic lunch or arrange a 'secret' outing/reservation for your partner, just let me know in advance and we'll sort it out. Le Clos d'Almide sits on the outskirts of a very peaceful hamlet, next to (24240) Monestier in the Dordogne. Surrounded by vineyards, fields, sunflowers & bird song! We also have a small vineyard and 'Chai' for the winemaking. Visit Château des Vigiers, with their 27 hole golf course & Spa or Château de Monbazillac, for its sweet wine. Many of the local medieval villages & towns hold farmers markets, and in July & August these turn into evening events, often with music. Bergerac, St. Emilion, Sarlat, Bordeaux, La Dune du Pyla, Arcachon, ... all at your finger tips! Plenty of parking at the property, but no local transport directly to/from our door. Trains from Gardonne & St. Foy La Grande are very easy to use and get you into Bordeaux in an hour and Sarlat in 1hr 20. A new fast route from Bordeaux to Paris can get you into the capital in 2 hours! We are collecting bicycles and have a few available on a first come, first served basis. We are collecting bicycles and have a few available on a first come, first served basis. We try and be as flexible as possible with check-In & check-out times, should the need arise.
