Beautiful mediterranean style house located on large lot that shares space with another home occupied by host. Bedroom has a queen size bed. Private entrance with use of the pool. Parking on the street. We provide a parking permit. Walking distance to Old Town and the University of La Verne. 2 miles from the Claremont Colleges. 25 miles to downtown LA. Near to train station, public transportation and freeways. Approx. 30 miles to Disneyland. Foothills close with hiking, horse riding, biking! The space is very open with high ceilings. It is decorated with with unique pieces of vintage furniture, art, and other fun decorative pieces. There is no bedroom door though it is separated by a wall and corner from the rest of the space and feels cozy and private. The decor is an ever changing project with new stuff to discover each time you visit. Of course you can use the pool and patio areas. We have lots of native growing herbs and our guests are welcome to use the lavender, oregano, bay leaves, and rosemary for cooking if they like. The pool is not heated, but gets to a very pleasant temperature in the summertime. The pool is shared with our family only, but when we have guests, we try to give them privacy in and around the pool area. There is no lifeguard on duty. Guests will have the entire space to themselves along with the pool and the nearby patio and front courtyard area. Please note that we do not heat the pool and once the days start to get shorter, the pool gets cooler and cooler. The best time to enjoy swimming in the pool is May-September. Our back yard is large with separate areas for dining and relaxing. You will see us from time to time out and enjoying the yard as well, but we do like to give our guests their space. Guests are welcome to explore the other gardens as well. Timed lights come on every evening from 2-6 hours per night. If you have a small family with children and are interested in booking, please contact me and we can try to accommodate you. We are open to children, but the pool presents a danger. Safe and quiet little old neighborhood with big trees. Take one of our bikes out for a ride and enjoy the neighborhood. Cars are great to have, but much of the action is close enough to walk. La Verne has a nearby Metrolink station that goes to Union Station in Los Angeles. We also have several bus transit lines, Uber, taxis, Lyft. Our neighborhood is very pleasant to walk and Old Town La Verne with it's great restaurants and other shops are just down a couple of blocks from us. Our home is located at the foothills of the San Gabriel mountain range. Plenty of nearby hiking and outdoor activities are available. Pasadena is a short drive on the 210 Freeway just a few minutes north. LA and Hollywood are about 25 miles west off of the 10 Freeway and south is Disneyland by about 30 miles. The beaches and mountain ski resorts are within an hour drive. Nice shopping areas. Great weather and wonderful community. We are happy to offer ideas on sight seeing, dining and getting where you want to go. We have outfitted the kitchen with the basic food supplies such as cooking oil, flour, sugar, creamer, coffee, tea, and spices. We also try to recycle and reduce our use of single use plastic and paper products . We provide cloth napkins, foil, plastic food containers, rags, plastic bags (under kitchen sink). If you need something else, please just text me and I'll see what I can do. We offer free wifi which you will be able to access once you arrive. All the information is in our guest handbook inside the house. We also have a television located in the living room area and offer local channels. We live on the premises and will be sharing the pool with our guests during the summer, but we do try to give our guests privacy when they are in the back using the pool. The back yard is large with lots of privacy and space for all.
