Rural Wye Valley Annex with Stunning Views.
This is a cosy self contained 1 bedroom annex with private access and off-road parking. The Annex is situated in a quiet, rural location with far reaching views across the River Wye and valley. It is centrally located between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford cathedral city. There is one double bedroom, an en-suite shower room, a utility room, and fully equipped kitchen. A large patio area is included with outside seating, barbecue and chiminea. There are some good local riverside walks nearby. The Annex comprises a small entrance hall that leads into the fully equipped kitchen. There is a table and two chairs by the window where you can eat your meals whilst enjoying the view. Basic supplies such as tea, coffee, milk bread and preserves will be provided. In the bedroom there is a divan double bed with three storage drawers. The bedroom also has a further set of drawers, a large Smart TV and a comfortable sofa. The Annex has fast fibre internet which enjoys good download speeds. The en-suite has a walk-in shower with underfloor heating as well as a heated towel rail. The utility room has a washing machine and there is also plenty of space to hang and store clothes. Outside in the patio, the seating area enjoys the morning, midday and late evening sun and is only used by our guests. The suite of outdoor chairs includes a double, two single seats and a table. There is also a larger table with 4 chairs where guests can enjoy their meals protected from the sun by a large parasol. For the adventurous, we have also provided an ‘egg chair’ where guests can relax whilst gently swinging on the patio. Guests should be aware that there are external stone steps leading from the parking area up to the Annex door. Potential guests should also be aware that there is no ramp to climb from the parking area to the Annex Guest access is via the Annex’s own main entrance or via the patio doors. On arrival, if the owners are not at the property, guests will be able to collect the Annex keys from a wall mounted safe. The keys and safe will be sanitised prior to any guest collecting the keys. There is no requirement to enter the Annex via the owners house. This is a self contained Annex and although the owners love to chat with their guests, there should be no need to interact with the owners. However, if advice or guidance is required, the owners will be on hand and will maintain social distancing in accordance with government guidance. If there is anything you wish to know about the accommodation or the local area please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to help. Please be aware that the owner’s have a very friendly fox red Labrador that lives at the main property. The dog is friendly and loves to say ‘hello’, but if guests would prefer the dog to remain at a distance please let us know before you arrive. The city of Hereford is about 7 miles away; the beautiful Ross-on-Wye is about the same distance in the opposite direction. Hereford has two distinct shopping areas, the older quarter which houses an indoor and outdoor market, the banks, and larger shops such as Marks & Spencer’s and Primark. The new quarter has some more modern restaurants such as Wagamama’s and Miller & Carter, and also the Odeon cinema. Ross has some lovely boutiques, a selection of pubs, restaurants and take-aways. Nearby to the Annex, the local village of Fownhope has a shop, several pubs and a doctors surgery. The well-known Cottage of Content pub (which you can walk to in about 30 minutes) is close by. There are some lovely walks close by and also within a short drive. There are a number of National Trust attractions, notably close to Hereford, and also at Monmouth. Being rural, Ballingham is not supported by a bus route, so apart from enjoying the local walks, guests should expect to use their cars to get around. If guests need a grocery shop, the closest is either at Fownhope, or close to Hereford on the ‘straight mile’. If it’s a supermarket that is required, there are a number at both Ross and Hereford. Note that the nearest petrol station is on the ‘straight mile’ however, fuel is cheaper at the ASDA and Sainsbury’s in Hereford. There is a Morrison’s petrol station in Ross as well as a couple of BP stations on the A40. We are hugely supportive of any efforts to keep us all safe and healthy. We have increased the cleaning time between each guest in order to disinfect and sanitise the accommodation. Bacterial wipes and hand sanitiser will be provided for all guests. We would ask that all food and drink is taken home (including the basics that we provide). We ask that guests place recyclable waste in the bin outside the Annex entrance. We also ask that normal waste is deposited in the bin in the kitchen. Waste bin collection days are on Fridays and if possible we will ask guests if they would like bins emptied on that day. Replacement bin liners are in the kitchen cupboard.
