The Haven at The Old Barn
As featured recently on “Escape to the Country” this unique space is a self contained one bedroom annexe with private entrance, attached to this amazing chapel style barn, containing bits of Salisbury Cathedral. A real head turner of a space and property in the middle of this idyllic village. A short walk to the nearby Three Horseshoes pub. (The space has a bedroom where you can fling the doors open to the wisteria covered terrace, shared with owner but primarily for guests use. If your tastes are for something more alternative, then the mysterious and magical place that is Glastonbury and its infamous Tor are only 15 miles away. Other places of sight-seeing and historical interest include: Longleat House and Safari Park, the world famous garden at Stourhead (National Trust), Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circle and Wells Cathedral. The wonderful Jurassic Coast, think Lyme Regis, Burton Bradstock, Abbotsbury is an hour away while the beautiful and bustling cities of Bath and Bristol are less than 25 miles down the road. The Newt at Somerset has just opened its gates after many years of investment and landscaping. It's gardens, restaurants and Cyder Press are proving very popular with our guests. The Bath & West Showground with all its various exhibitions is less than 15mins. A wonderfully unique space in an equally magical house and village that is The Barn in Batcombe. Under 10 minutes car journey from the chic town of Bruton and the thriving independent town of Frome - the latter hosts a hugely popular Sunday market on the first Sunday of each month from March onwards. ** PLEASE manage your expectations when making a booking ** - this unique and magically romantic space has limited cooking facilities but that said, with a little creativity, you should be able to whip up a full meal. I’ve provided a two ring electric hob, a combination oven/microwave, coffee machine, blender and as much as I can think of to make your stay as easy and hassle free as possible. But this is all reflected in the price of this eclectic and unique space. Thank you Guests have two options. One is to park outside on the road and come in through the chapel gate into the back garden or alternatively drive round lane a bit further to main drive and approach the property from the front where you will be welcomed and shown to the annexe entrance via the back garden. Please note this way is trickier for people with accessibility issues. Upon arrival if I am not at home you will always find the key in the green door. I'm happy to interact as much as the guests would like. Batcombe is one of the most picturesque villages in this part of Somerset. It is surrounded by exquisite countryside and only a short walk from the Three Horseshoes pub. Bruton is a mere 10 minutes drive and there you can find all amenities and is easily accessible to Hauser and Wirth as well as the Michelin star restaurant, Osip. Please note: the Three Horseshoes Pub in the village is undergoing a revamp at the moment so is temporarily closed until approximately November 2021.
