Superb farmhouse in Burgundy near Semur-en-Auxois
An extremely comfortable, well equipped and tastefully furnished farmhouse with two large en-suite bedrooms (one of which is downstairs), a lovely garden to relax in and plenty of off road parking in the courtyard. Central heating throughout plus an open fireplace with an abundant supply of logs. The British owners live next door having enjoyed the fresh air, peace and lack of light pollution at night for over 20 years - need we say more! There is plenty of space in the house and the view across the garden and on into the Auxois countryside is magnificent. Flagstones, oak beams and paneling, an open fireplace, Farrow and Ball paints and limewash, inject plenty of character into this charming building. The house is maintained to a very high standard with many regular guests who return year after year. Quality bedlinens (beds made up), towels and soaps are included Two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, mezzanine with a single bed, large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, closed in garden, terrace and bbq and off road parking. House includes two fridges, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, expresso machine, open log fire, oil fired central heating and wi-fi. We live next door and whilst always available we will never be intrusive. It is always a pleasure however to meet guests from all different walks of life and share tips and advice about our region, places to visit, walks, restaurants and so forth. The house sits in a sleepy hamlet (Tivauche-le-Haut) in rolling countryside with no noise from working farms, busy roads or train lines. There is an enclosed garden with a magnificent view. The picturesque little medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois is just a 15 minute drive away. The Cistercian abbey of Fontenay and the hilltop village of Flavigny (where Chocolat was filmed) are within half an hours drive from the house. The Morvan Park is nearby; a land of forests, lakes, small winding lanes and hedgerows. No public transport - a car is essential unless you are a very keen cyclist! Arrangements can be made to meet you at Montbard train station (TGVs from Paris take just one hour), a 15 minute drive from the house. Well behaved dogs are welcome but we do not accept cats. We kindly request that guests do not smoke inside the house.
