Spacious and comfortable, detached Mackenzie Cottage is perfectly located to explore the Scottish Highlands including the North Coast 500 route. Set in the owner's grounds of Mackenzie House and close to all Strathpeffer village amenities. Off street parking at the door for up to two cars. The cottage has three bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, family shower-room and useful second toilet. All level access and wheelchair accessible. Private grassed garden area (not fully enclosed) with picnic bench for your own use which is accessible from the lounge. Detached and set in the grounds of the owners property, Mackenzie Cottage has its own private garden area with picnic bench . You are welcome to have a BBQ but due to Covid19 we no longer supply the equipment. Private off-street parking at the door. We, the owners, live on site and are available for help and advice on most things Highland - from day trips, activities, sightseeing spots and beaches, restaurants etc etc. Guests are left to do their own thing but we are very happy to have a socially distanced chat if that's what you'd like to do. Local Amenities Along with its beautiful Victorian architecture, cafes, restaurants, gift-shops, bicycle shop (bike hire available), museums, tourist information and 18 hole golf course, Strathpeffer also has a small well stocked grocery shop and post-office and a small deli. The nearest supermarkets are in Dingwall , 5 miles away, and are open until 12pm or you could arrange to have your groceries delivered from Tesco, Sainsbury or Asda supermarkets for your arrival. Activities There's plenty of walks and cycling routes to enjoy around Strathpeffer offering fantastic views of Mid-Ross & Cromarty. From mountains, beaches, ancient Pictish standing stones, outdoor adventure activities, the Loch Ness Monster, castles, whisky distilleries and micro-breweries, hill-walking, fishing, sailing, dolphins, golden eagles, ospreys and red kites, golfing, wild-flowers, lochs, islands and sunsets - if it's not right on our doorstep it's all easily reached within an hours drive or less. Loch Ness, BlackIsle Peninsula, Moray Firth, West Coast, Gairloch, Applecross, Ullapool, Inverness, Dornoch, Nairn, Aviemore, Cairngorm National Park, John O'Groats, Thurso, Cape Wrath, Isle of Skye, Fort William, Durness, Stornoway and the Outer Hebrides - some of these places are a day trip and are well worth making the effort to visit but of course you can also just relax and do very little. We can provide bicycle hire. Advance booking recommended. Strathpeffer is only 20 miles (25 minutes drive) from Inverness which has easy access by road, rail and the following airports – London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, London Luton, London City, Belfast and Amsterdam. There is a regular bus service to/from Inverness & Dingwall and also over to the West Coast to Ullapool. The website Traveline Scotland has all public transport timetables for the area. Travel cots are available at no additional cost - please let us know if you require one. We do not provide baby bedding. There are two other rental properties on site but all are private. We no longer accept pets. Sorry. Motorhomes are permitted but only by prior arrangement. No electric car charging facilities but there are 4 in the village square nearby (2-3mins walk)
