Les Trois Fers, a country house near Aubeterre

We fell in love with Les Trois Fers at first sight. The house nestles in a quiet hamlet and enjoys the tranquillity of the French countryside. But if you need a bit of retail therapy, cafes or restaurants, we are just a 5-minute drive from Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of the "plus beaux villages de France." Upstairs One large double-bedroom, king-size bed with fitted oak wardrobes, en-suite bathroom (with shower) with access to a charming covered balcony with seating - great views. Another large double bedroom with king-size bed, wardrobe and desk. It has three windows with lovely views, and access to the balcony. One small double-bedroom with antique French bed and wardrobe. One medium sized bedroom with two single beds and antique oak wardrobe and chest of drawers. Family shower room. Downstairs A large L-shaped bright and airy open plan space including: living area with four seater settee, three seater settee, armchair, ottoman, 48" wide screen TV (UK TV channels) and DVD player and selection of DVDs. A dining area with table seating for eight Fully equipped kitchen with Neff large oven, five burner gas hob, toaster, kettle, double sink Utility room with dishwasher and microwave Downstairs WC Sun-room/playroom. A large bright space with table tennis table, desk, sofa and second TV/DVD player. Externally Outside the kitchen door is a seating area for eight people shaded by a pergola with grape-vine and wisteria. We use this for breakfast and lunches. At the other end of the house is a large covered outside deck overlooking the garden and valley. There is a dining table for eight people and a sofa and chairs for relaxing, perfect for eating out and relaxing during warm evenings. There is a shower room, WC and laundry room opposite the house which is ideal for keeping pool towels, costumes and for changing. The pool area has a large terrace with plenty of space for loungers (provided) and a seating area. There is a very pretty garden and a wonderful pool area with great views. The pool is 10m x 5m with steps at the end. It has a salt sterilisation system so no chlorine tastes or smells. The gardens are a feature of the property with over an acre and a half of lawns, fruit trees, quiet areas, beautiful roses and other flowering plants, a dry river garden, a pond with water lilies and laughing frogs. Everywhere Interaction with guests Our caretakers - the lovely Pete and Jane - live in the hamlet and will be able to answer any questions. You can also contact us by phone or email. Le Fresse is a tiny hamlet comprising eight houses. It is delightfully peaceful and no light pollution. Star-gazing in the garden is a must! We have two road bikes and two mountain bikes available for your use. Helmets are provided. There are walking and bike trails that pass right through our hamlet. Maps are available. There is on-site parking for cars within the grounds of the property.
