These are one of a kind authentic Romanian old houses, located in the heart of Transylvania, at the foothills of the Fagaras Mountains, in the village Porumbacu de Sus- Sibiu. The houses have been restored in a traditional style, which reminds us of the holidays spent at Grandma. You can relax, enjoy nature and the wonderful mountain views. Some words to describe this area are: nature, beauty, back in time, great tasting fresh food, fresh air, sleep like a baby, finding yourself.... The houses have been restored in a traditional style, in a confortable and cozy way, which reminds us of the holidays spent at Grandma. The first house has 2 bedrooms and the second one has 1 bedroom with an attic. Each one of the houses has 1 bathroom with a shower and a basic kitchen. All the rooms are furnished with antique Transylvanian furniture and most of the textiles were handcrafted by our grandmothers and aunts. The houses are family friendly, with a very generous garden with hammock, a terrace with traditional bread oven and barbecue where you can eat; are close to great views of the mountains, good for couples, families and solo adventures. Here you can relax, enjoy nature and if you feel like eating local food, you can try the best cheese you can get, home made cookies, fresh eggs and traditional dishes. Extra fees apply for meals and you must communicate us of your choices, with at least one weak before your arrival. You will have the whole houses exclusively for you and you can feel free to explore the rest of the property. We will be glad to give you suggestions of how you can spend your time in the village and surroundings: must visit spots in the area, long walks in the village- countryside is fantastic to sea, bike rides on the hills and in the forests (we can provide you free bicycles), tasting local food, go hiking in Fagaras Mountains; if you are interested we can arrange for you, to see how is weaving to the loom. In the second house we have a small “museum” with a hand loom and other old pieces used by our Grandma. We can also arrange airport shuttle, with an extra fee. Our houses are placed right at the entrance to the village, so you can arrive quickly on the surrounding hills, where you can enjoy nature and the breathtaking views of the Carpathian Mountains. Or you can just go hiking in the woods, or even make a longer walk to Negoiu Chalet, because our village is situated on the way that leads to Negoiu Peak. You can visit Avrig with the Brukenthal palace, Carta with its Cistercian Monastery, saxon villages with fortified churches, like Viscri, Malancrav, Biertan, Cincsor and other villages so treasured by Prince Charles. The "Valea Zanelor Castle" is 5 minutes, a castle that seems to have been built by hobbits and which is made only from natural materials. The easiest way to get to Porumbacu de Sus is by car. A railway station is just 5 km away.
