Doonbrae Cottages, heart of Burns Country, Alloway
Beautiful traditional Scottish cottages set within stunning grounds. Situated on the Banks of the River Doon in the heart of Burns Country and next door to the famous landmark of the Auld Kirk. Each of our one bedroom cottages are decorated to a high standard showcasing the incredible tale of Tam o'Shanter, traditional yet with a modern twist, these cottages offer a little bit of luxury in Burns land.Fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The cottages are set within the grounds on either side of our family home. We welcome all guests with open arms but do ask you to be respectful of our privacy. Parking is not allowed on site but there is a car park directly across the road. Smoking is not permitted in the cottages or on the grounds. We have two cottages, Gables Cottage and Rose Cottage. Both one bedroom cottages are set within the grounds of our family home and although we do ask guests to respect our privacy we are only ever a phone call away if you need any help. Alloway for those of you who don't know was once the playground and hometown of the famous poet Robert Burns. It is an idyllic Scottish village offering guests Burns cottage and visitor centre, Burns Monument and many local eateries, parks and a stones throw away from the seafront. Just 5 mins in a taxi to Ayr town centre and only an hour to Glasgow it is a perfect base to explore the West Coast or stop by for a relaxing break. The cottages lie on the banks of the River Doon and have a full fishing license. Salmon fishing can be organised at an additional cost. The Brigodoon Hotel is directly across the road where guests can enjoy fantastic local produce and some Scottish favourites. The cottages lie on a local bur route where you can easily access transport to Ayr and surrounding areas. It is a five minute journey to the train station by car and Prestwick Airport is only two stops away on the train. Driving from Glasgow is only a 50 minute journey.
