This well-equipped cottage is situated in the stunning High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local pubs, shops & restaurants are within walking distance or enjoy your own meals gazing over surrounding countryside at home. The hosts live next-door. Weaver's Rest is a 'Kentish barn-style' cottage situated at the end of a private drive and has been designed to make the best use of space. There is free parking on the gravel drive at the front of the cottage. Please leave room for our cars to enter and exit the covered parking area. There is a paved patio at the rear of the cottage accessed from the right-hand side of the cottage viewed from the front. We are around most of the time and are happy to help with any queries in person when we are. A footpath leads to Sissinghurst village (a 10 minute walk) where there is a well stocked food & wine store, the Milk House village pub for good food and local beers & wines and an Indian takeaway. An 20 minute walk finds you in the historic town of Cranbrook where you'll find everything from pubs, restaurants and coffee shops to a wide selection of shops and a supermarket. The cottage is situated in a secluded part of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 1,604 square kilometres making it one of the largest AONBs in the UK. The area is well known for its rolling hills, woodland, parks and small towns providing a varied landscape and rich wildlife habitats. The area is of national importance for nature conservation and includes of Sites of Scientific Interest, Sites of Nature Conservation Importance and Scheduled Ancient Monuments. Local Attractions: - Sissinghurst Castle (1.7 miles) - National Trust Property - Hush Heath Estate (6.1 miles) - Vineyard & Winery - Scotney Castle (9.6 miles) - National Trust Property - Bewl Water (10.4 miles) - 800 acre Reservoir & Leisure Site You can check the house manual for full details of suggested activities and destinations. Local footpaths are literally yards from your door where you can explore the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The nearest train link to London and the Kent Coast is a ten minute drive away in Staplehurst (London 58 min train ride). Local bus services are about a ten minute walk. The location is protected by an electric gate and covered by 24 hour CCTV cameras. The hosts live next-door and will provide entry/exit instructions the day before your arrival.
