Our home is modern, clean and contemporary. We're in the centre of the village of Mawnan Smith, the room has beautiful views to the Lizard Peninsula. We are within walking distance of the Helford River and the coast path with it’s many beaches and riverside inns and a short drive/ half hour walk from Maenporth beach . Close by are Glendurgan, Penjerrick and Trebah Gardens. Falmouth is 5 miles and Truro 12. The house was built in 2016 and is situated on it's own (being separated from a residential street by a lane), on the edge of the well regarded village of Mawnan Smith, near Falmouth, in Cornwall. We are lucky to be almost in the centre of the village and not be overlooked whilst enjoying such beautiful views. Both the bedroom and private bathroom were redecorated in March 2021. The bedroom is a good size with a double bed; bedding, towels, water and magazines are provided. There are two bedside cabinets with drawers as well as hanging space (hangers provided). There is a freeview television, hairdryer, torch, a charger for toothbrushes and an adaptor for overseas visitors. The bedroom overlooks the valley and has glorious rural views. The private bathroom (not en-suite) has a walk-in shower and separate bath. You're welcome to access our Wi-Fi though please be aware mobile phone signal can be poor. We do have a dog called Clary (since January 2020), she's a Border/Bedlington Terrier cross and very friendly. She has no access to your bedroom or bathroom but you may come across her in communal spaces. Communal spaces include the kitchen-diner (tea/coffee provided and access to cooking facilities for food you bring in) and the terrace and garden, both of which have seating and enjoy the outlook over the valley. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen for breakfast/tea/coffee (provided - for details see Other Things To Note section), you're welcome to use the fridge/crockery etc. for food & drink you bring in. We always aim to keep things very clean anyway but in light of the pandemic we will ensure this is case. Although lovely our home is an ordinary and modestly sized house, as such it is not possible to allow you a contact less check in or sole access to communal areas though we will obviously aim to social distance in these times as much as possible. The bedroom and private bathroom (not en-suite) are completely private and for your sole use. There is a shared decking area and garden both with seating overlooking the valley where the sun sets in the evening. You'll have your own front door key to the house so will be able to come and go as you please. We provide local information and have Cornwall guide books and OS maps you're welcome to borrow. Myself and my husband, Gary, work but when around are more than happy to chat and advise you should you require help with your stay. We will respect your privacy but also enjoy meeting new people and look forward to sharing our home. Mawnan Smith is a lovely village and community close to (1.5m) the South Cornish coast. We are very handy for the South West Coast path and the ferry link from Helford on the Lizard to Helford Passage on this side of the river. There is a local shop, a village cafe (Awna) and a 15th century village pub (The Red Lion) within a 5 minute walk of the house. We have weekly visits from an award winning wood fired pizza company (Fridays). We have a craft centre in the village and our thriving monthly farmers food and craft market is well worth a visit. Also there is a beach cafe and riverside Inn (The Ferryboat) within a 5 minute drive or longer walk. A beach on the Helford river is 1 mile away while a sea beach is 2 miles. Falmouth (5 miles) has a wide range of restaurants, pubs and shops as well as visitor attractions such as The Maritime Museum. Within walking distance are two riverside gardens open to the public (Glendurgan - National Trust - and Trebah - not NT), both have restaurants. Within a 5 mile drive are the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek and Flicka Donkey Sanctuary near Mabe Burnthouse. We are well located for many Cornish favourites including the Lizard Peninsula, our only city, Truro, the Roseland, and the Helford river. Other Cornish favourites such as Penzance or St Ives are a 45 minute drive. Obviously many local businesses are operating differently, or temporarily closed due to the pandemic. We cannot be certain which places mentioned above will be open during your stay at present. Between 1st April and Halloween the Helford River can be crossed via an on demand passenger ferry, linking the two sections of the SWCP. This travels between nearby Helford Passage and Helford village on the Lizard Peninsula. There is an hourly (during the day) bus service to Falmouth and Helston (Monday to Saturday). From Falmouth you can connect with the branch railway line to Truro (a main line station with links to Penzance/St Ives/Exeter/London and elsewhere). There are also local and national bus services as well as passenger ferries to popular tourist locations such as Trelissick Garden and St Mawes. We provide a breakfast tray in the kitchen for guests to help themselves. This includes tea and coffee, fruit juices, homemade (or very occasionally Cornish bakery) bread, Cornish butter, jam and Marmalade. During the rest of your stay guests are encouraged to help themselves to tea/coffee/water etc whenever they wish. Please note that as of January 2020 we have a Border/Bedlington Terrier dog. She has no access to your bedroom or bathroom but you may come across her in communal areas such as the kitchen or hallway. She is very friendly.
