Terrumbula
Perched on a sloping block among the tree tops, with views of the Hawkesbury River, Broken Bay and surrounding National Parks, this unique home is a place to relax and let go of the world. High ceilings, floor to ceiling glass and an open plan layout allows you to enjoy the surroundings, no matter what the elements. We are located on the east side of the island where you can watch the first rays of the day rise above the surrounding clifftops. This peaceful property is located at the top of the island, away from the crowds and tourists. We are a 10 minute walk from the main public areas of the island, including ferry wharf, cafe, beach and bowling club, and a short walk to Kiparra Park bushland reserve. Terrumbula is best suited to couples or as an artist’s/yoga retreat. The main entrance level features open plan living with lounge, dining, kitchen, bathroom and balcony. Toast yourself by the cosy wood fire in the cooler months. Additionally, stay comfortable in all seasons with reverse cycle air conditioning. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics to cook your own meals, and there is a gas barbecue overlooking the river. The main bedroom with a king sized bed is in the loft, from which you can watch the sun rise. The bathroom has been recently renovated with a dual head shower and underfloor heating . At the lower level is an open plan multi-purpose space, not currently provisioned for rental (pending future renovation) and laundry. Wifi is provided, along with a DVD player and stereo. A cot is available upon request. The garden below the property is still being established and is not currently available. A canoe is available upon request. Access: Dangar Island is accessible by a regular public ferry that departs from Brooklyn. It connects with a train service at Brooklyn (Hawkesbury River) and Central Station is only 55 minutes away (note there is not yet a lift at the train station). A water taxi is also available. What to do: Go for a jog or walk around the island for stunning views, and clean air on the car-free roads. Local attractions include Bradley’s Beach and Kiparra Park (bushland reserve). For dining, Dangar Island Depot at the ferry wharf has delicious breakfasts and lunches and a small selection of items for the pantry (open until 4pm daily). The Dangar Island Bowling Club serves pub meals and a bar on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and lunch Saturday/Sunday. Barefoot bowls are available for a fee from the bowling club, which also hosts a variety of performances including the very popular open mic nights. A number of community events are also held throughout the year. For longer stays catch a ferry to Brooklyn and discover the restaurants and cafes there, buy fresh fish from the coop, travel the Riverboat Postman, or for the very adventurous rent a motor boat from one of the Marinas, and explore the Hawkesbury. Most of all we enjoy relaxing and recharging amongst the natural beauty of the Hawkesbury and surrounds.
