Forest Cabin for Adventurers in Povoaçao

Casa do Agrião is located between Furnas and Povoação, in the heart of a typical azorean forest. It is one of the most private and silent refuges you can find in the islands and is served by a stunning looking pool carved in the rock. Casa do Agrião is truly a gem for quietness seekers. In order to get there you need to get out the main road that connects Furnas to Povação and take a dirt road for about 3,5 km, going down the cryptomeria covered hills. It will take you between 10 and 15 minutes to do it. The house is located in a cute little valley, surrounded by trees and overlooking the ocean. Because it is so secluded, there is no public electrical grid serving the house. Solar panels are used to give electricity to the building so it is possible to lighten it at night. There is no TV, WIFI or video games. For some people it may be a dull place. We think it is a perfect place to reconnect to nature and recharge batteries. We love it this way. You will have access to two different properties that belong to the same owner: the Mountain property where this house is; and the Sea property, where the pool is. The properties are connected by a walking trail and it will take you less than 10 minutes to get from one to the other. From the house to the pool it will take you between 15 and 20 minutes. We will meet you in Furnas. When we get to the house, we will show you how everything works and give you our best hints on what to do and where to go. It is possible that we are staying in the Sea property during the time of your stay. What we love most in this Mountain property is the silence and peace it emanates. The only thing you can hear is bird songs.. It is a perfect place for hiking, birdwatching, sightseeing or even building a tree house, if you like. It is a forest. With no wild animals. In nearby village of Ribeira Quente, you can hit the surf in Praia do Fogo or have a great meal at restaurant "Ponta do Garajau". In Furnas you can visit the beautiful Terra Nostra garden, eat a "Cozido" made in a geothermal heated hole close to Lagoa das Furnas and take a nice hot bath at "Poça da Beija". Because this is a very secluded property, we advise you to get a car so you can have your independence. The dirt road is in quite good shape so every car should do ok going up and down the hills. They are not that steep. Check-in between 14h00 and 19h30. Check-out till 11h00.
