Lovely views, and not just from the house! 18 pristine acres with mountain stream, hiking trail, pasture, and woods that bloom with mountain laurel, rhododendron, and native azalea. From our 8'-wide wraparound porch see deer, wild turkey, woodpeckers, and stars no longer visible in Atlanta. Our place is warm and cozy, yet large enough for retreats, family reunions, and weddings. Completely stocked kitchen, toiletries, towels, sheets, firewood provided. Extra folding chairs in bin on porch. This land is featured in a public television film that tells the true story of Gencie Jones, a mountain woman of the old times who lived on the adjoining 200 acres. Shot in Gum Log Valley and the mountains of north Georgia and North Carolina, "Remembering Miz Jones" takes you into the Appalachian woods at every season and in every weather. The wilderness itself becomes a major character as Gencie's life broadens into a universal human story. A DVD is available to watch during your stay. BE SURE TO CLICK ON "David's Guidebook," NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE! The whole house and 18 acres of woodland and pasture is yours while you're there! Our house is nestled in a quiet, beautiful valley 20 minutes from Blairsville, GA, Young Harris College, and charming little Hayesville, NC, which features the elegant Copper Door restaurant. Nearby are mountain hiking, waterfalls, Nottely River tubing, golf at Brasstown Valley Resort, the lovely Crane Creek Vineyard, the John C. Campbell School of Folk Art, and an alpaca petting farm. Local Hikes Helton Creek Falls: A very short hike to a truly beautiful waterfall. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Neels Gap to Blood Mountain summit: A good, safe hike to lovely views from the summit. Will get your heart rate up. (Website hidden by Airbnb)
