Handcrafted Cottage in the Redwoods

This secluded getaway offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful, rural setting with an easy 10 minute drive (or 30 minute scenic bike ride) to both downtown Eureka and downtown Arcata. The cottage is ideal for 2 people, but can accommodate 4 people. Creekside Commons is a beautiful jointly owned five acre retreat in the heart of the redwoods. Our goals include eliminating boundaries and pursuing common goals when possible. One goal we have in common is to be able to provide a healing and restful retreat for our guests. Whether you choose to stay at the Cottage or the Cabin we hope your stay with us is rejuvenating and adventuresome. The Cottage is a cozy and clean 1-bedroom retreat with handcrafted and artistic touches throughout. The sitting room can easily be turned into a second private bedroom for an additional two guests. Step outside the backdoor and into an enchanted redwood grove, enjoy fresh vegetables from our organic garden, luxuriate in the outdoor bath or spend an evening by the fire pit. Guests have access to the cottage, a private yard area, shared yard/meadow and organic garden. We live on the property and are usually present during guests' stay. We are happy to greet you and show you the space and be available for any needs you may have. We also want to be sure to give you plenty of privacy. Freshwater is a lovely little town between Arcata and Eureka. You can enjoy nearby parks and walking in and around the area. Many people love to ride their bikes up the hills and mountains nearby. Freshwater grange hosts a monthly (1st Sunday of the month) community oriented pancake breakfast. There is convenient parking for guests on our property. You will need a car in order to get to Eureka or Arcata as there isn't public transportation in Freshwater. There's plenty to see and do in Humboldt County. Enjoy events such as the Kinetic Sculpture Race, North Country Fair, Film Festivals and weekly farmer's markets. Humboldt county has multiple wine tasting rooms and craft beers. Live music and theatre are cornerstones of Humboldt county culture. For the outdoor adventurer, enjoy the majestic redwood forests, guided birdwatching tours, miles of coastal beaches and sunny days at inland rivers.
