Merigan Homestead - Quarters

A recently renovated part of the Merigan Homestead, separated from the main house by a sunny courtyard. Built in the 1930’s this 2 bedroom suite was originally accommodation for staff. Sleeping 5 people, there are 2 bedrooms, a living room and a brand new bathroom. DOG Friendly. Set in beautifully maintained gardens and down a 3 kms entrance lined with oak trees Merigan homestead is a oasis in the summer and protected from the wind in Winter. Suitable for one or two couples or families. One room has a bunk bed (Double mattress and a single up top) and the other a queen bed. Facilities include TV, Wifi, fireplace for cold evenings, breakfast making facilities and access to the extensive garden and use of the tennis and bocce court. Located 3 and half hours from Sydney, 45 minutes from Canberra’s centre, 15 minutes to Bungendore and close to Tarago and Braidwood. Farm tours available upon request and food packages / BBQ’s and meals can also be arranged in advance. Numerous long paddock walks to be had.!! You will have access to a part of the homestead which is referred to the old ‘maid’s quarters’. It has a separate entrance - through a courtyard area - it is connected to the main homestead and there is a door into the main kitchen from the courtyard. The quarters has a fridge, coffee / tea making facilities and in the courtyard area a sink, cooker, BBQ and bench / table seating. Merigan is a working farm in a relatively remote location. Like all parts of the country we experience a lack of services. The Wi-Fi (and Wifi calling) goes down sometimes, the TV sometimes drop out (no Foxtel at this stage), there are blackouts, and you can only get limited reception for a mobile in some locations - but a bit of digital detox will do you the world of good. Due to the drought we also have a limited water supply so we ask guests to be mindful of water use. Sometimes the farm encroaches on the house - noises, smells and wild animals. This is part of the experience but you should be aware and make sure you feel safe.
