Traditional French house with a contemporary twist

A classic 17th century townhouse in the heart of the beautiful medieval town of Sauveterre that has been completely renovated inside to provide a modern interior, expertly blended with the ancient exterior. The house has views of the Pyrenees and is 2 minutes away from a glorious swimming river, safe for children. The town has numerous bars, restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. Biarritz is only 40 minutes away and we have a studio flat there if you want to explore the town. A blend of ancient and modern offering contemporary interiors and conveniences wrapped up in a traditional style. The house has 3 large double bedrooms and a huge master suite with an en-suite jack and jill bathroom. On the ground floor is a very large open plan living, dining and kitchen area with separate utility room with washing machine, dishwasher, water heating system and storage. Additionally on the top floor is a huge playroom/chilling space, that is perfect to provide a separate area for kids or families to stay apart! There is a brand new wood burner plus individual radiators for the bedrooms. The house is situated directly opposite the town’s grand church, a popular tourist attraction on the pilgrim’s way. 2 minutes away is a stunning swimming river that is safe for children. Moments from the house are a selection of bars and restaurants and a large supermarket is 5 minutes walk away. The large towns of Pau and Biarritz are 40 minutes away by car and we have a studio flat in the centre of Biarritz that is available for separate rental if required. The house is managed locally and all questions and queries can be answered on site as well as via ourselves. We are available by phone e mail and text and the house is also managed locally by a woman who knows the house well and can deal in person with any issues. Sauveterre is a classic small medieval town on the edge of the Pyrenees and with easy access to the coastal towns of Biarritz, Bayonne and St Jean De Luz. The Spanish gastronomic capital of San Sebastián is a 70 minute drive away and Bilbao is only 1hr 45 minutes drive. Ski-ing in winter is an hour’s drive. A brand new organic wine bar and restaurant is opening next door to the house in October from an award-winning chef and her sommelier partner. The town is a perfect base for exploring the local countryside and there are numerous towns, markets and places of interest within 30 minutes drive. You can park directly in front of the house for free, and we recommend that you have a car as local transport is limited. The nearest airports are Biarritz or Pau which are both 40 minutes away by car and the nearest train station is Orthez which is a 15 minutes drive.
