Mallum Creek Farm has a self contained wing of a large country farmhouse. Guests have their own private bedrooms, bathroom, lounge, breakfast room and ample parking. The lounge room has a Coonara fireplace, fridge, microwave, toaster and jug. Whilst there is no kitchen, guests are encouraged to enjoy the veranda and bbq facilities and to enjoy walks about the farm and gardens. A continental breakfast is included. Your hosts are easily contacted in the main part of the house if required. Guests have their own private bedrooms, bathroom lounge room, breakfast room and parking area. Vehicles can be garaged if required. Linen and towels are provided, plus electric blankets, reverse cycle air conditioning and heating and TV. Telstra is the preferred telco in the area and Wifi is available. Children are welcome and can be accommodated in the second bedroom. A porta-cot is available if required and can be placed in one of the bedrooms, please let us know in advance. There is an additional fee of $30 per person for this room per night. We are ideally located for exploring North East Victoria or a rest spot between Melbourne and Sydney. For those competing at horse events the property is well set up with under cover yards, hot wash bays and horse infrastructure. We have an 80 acre property and you are free to enjoy the gardens or take walks about the farm, remembering to leave any gates as you found them. The property is a working property and has sheep and cattle at all times. Depending on the time of year you may see kangaroos, koalas and echidnas. There is always an abundance of amazing birdlife in the garden and environment. We enjoy meeting new people and are happy to socialise with them. We have a lovely verandah which is a great environment for easy meals and relaxed conversation. If guests prefer their own company that is fine too and the hosts can be easily contacted if assistance is required. You can take a drive through beautiful Mt Samaria and the Strathbogie Ranges, ski at Mt Buller, go boating and fishing at Lake Nillahcootie, walk or bike ride around the Winton Wetlands or travel along the Ned Kelly Trail. The local Swanpool Cinema shows double feature movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The cinema has a short winter break (between July and September 2019). The iconic Tatong Tavern is just a short 7 minute drive away. Lunch is available from Wednesday to Sunday and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. You can also try out the variety of restaurants in Mansfield and Benalla or you can pick up a take-away for dinner from the local Chinese restaurants and heat it in the microwave provided. Don't forget that on the verandah you also have access to a BBQ if cooking is your thing. Taste local wines at the Kooyonga Creek Winery, open on Friday to Sunday. Winton Raceway has an all year calendar of events including the V8 Super Cars and the Historic Veteran cars in May and it is approximately 30 minutes away. We are only 20 minutes from the Hume Freeway (near the Benalla turn-off) and less than 6 minutes from the Swanpool township on the Midland Highway. Usual check out time is 10am.
