Greysen Estate Artists' Retreat Cabin (Bernstein)
Nestled in the tranquil setting of Currawang's natural bush valley, Greysen Estate Artists’ Retreat offers plush accommodation among the wildlife just five minutes from Collector Village. Enjoy fine wines from award-winning cellar doors, great country fare from the cafes, or a refreshing beverage at the historic hotel, and you don't have to be an artist to book! Think of it like a comfortable Queen ensuite hotel room in the bush! This one's called 'Bernstein', after the awesome American composer, conductor and music educator Leonard (Lenny) Bernstein. Like Lenny, it's bold yet beautiful. Our cabins are made from recycled shipping containers (the tall ones!), which have been luxuriously converted featuring floor to ceiling glazing and a full-length balcony. They are fully lined and insulated, and include a private shower and toilet ensuite, a really comfy queen bed, indoor and outdoor furniture, a fridge, and tea & coffee making facilities. Due to council occupancy regulations the cabins don't have kitchens - so you can stock up the fridge with delicious charcuterie (crockery, cutlery and wine glasses provided), or travel to the local wineries (10 mins) or cafes/pub (5 mins) for your meals. A selection of books and CDs are available in your cabin for your enjoyment, and the 25 acres of unspoilt habitat on Greysen Estate is available to explore at your leisure. The full-length balcony looks out into the serenity of the Australian Bush and is perfect for a screen-detox weekend. The setting is ideal for writers, poets, artists and anyone who just needs to escape to the country! Located 100 metres from the main residence, the two separate cabins have their own vehicle entry and adjacent parking (weather permitting). Your cabin is self-contained with instant gas hot water, and electric heating/cooling fan. You will come and go as you please and are able to park at the cabins (weather permitting). Management is just a few minutes from your accommodation if you require anything, but you will be left alone to enjoy the peace and serenity of the Australian Bush. Greysen Estate Artists' Retreat is perfect for chillaxing to take in the sounds of nature's symphony. The Currawang and Collector district has the award-winning Cellar Doors of Lerida Estate and Lake George wineries, along with Kiki's at the Grove, Some Cafe and Collector Fresh for locally made delicious food and produce. There’s also the superb Collector Wines Cellar Door in the village and the historic Bushranger Hotel for pub grub, cold beverages and plenty of character. And let's not forget the world-famous annual Collector Village Pumpkin Festival on the first Sunday in May! Our guests drive themselves. Although you will be on a country property, vehicle access is fairly smooth. If you are attending a wedding or event in the district and seek a taxi service, we can usually co-ordinate a third party lift for you. That will involve a fee paid directly to the driver at the time of travel. There is a CD/Radio in your room, but no TV (there's no reception). It really is the ideal screen detox destination, but you can find a spot nearby to check messages or emails if you have to. Engaging in scenic walks from your accommodation is as easy or as challenging as you like, with a range of flat or hilly expeditions from your doorstep to take in a sunset or sunrise with the kangaroos and kookaburras. We often get asked about cooking, fires, and pets. Unfortunately, for the comfort of other guests and our neighbours - and to meet council regulations - we cannot accommodate these. However we can recommend some local camping options if you would like this more rustic experience.
