Gorgeous hideaway cottage brimming with character
Step through the front door into this perfect little cottage that has been finished to a high standard with luxury furnishings. Tastefully decorated with comfort in mind, you'll find everything you need from fast Wifi to 300 thread count bedlinen to make your stay in the Lakes as perfect as you'd want it to be. The location could not be more perfect - nestled on a leafy corner, close to all amenities, at the end of a quiet lane that leads down to the river Cocker. The living room has an exposed brick fireplace with gas-fuelled woodburning stove, a high quality sofa and large footstool and an armchair. It's charming and comfortable. There's a wall-mounted smartTV and fast Wifi via a BT router. Wooden flooring runs throughout. The kitchen was hand-built and painted, and has a small dining area with antique oak dining table. There's a dishwasher, electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge freezer and filter coffee maker. The kitchen is well equipped with crockery and glasses, cookware and pots and pans. Beautiful pure new wool Berber-style carpet runs upstairs and throughout the bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and bright, with two sash windows that are fitted with linen roman blinds with blackout linings so that you don't have to wake up with the sun! There's a workspace with desk and chair and a wardrobe rail behind a lovely folding screen. The kingsize bed has a pocket sprung mattress and high thread count bedlinen. The children's room has a bunkbed with two full-size mattresses. The top mattress is of a regulation thickness for safety reasons - perfectly comfortable for children and teens. The bottom bunk has a full-thickness mattress. The room is cosy and quiet and also has a blackout blind. The cottage has a side passageway accessed by a door to the street. Bikes can be stored safely in the back yard. A free digital parking permit is provided for the longstay car parks that are just minutes away. There are also several unregulated parking spaces near the cottage. Guests will check themselves in and out using a key from the safe box, but I'm very happy to be available if I'm needed, and I am always contactable by phone. Wren Cottage sits on a leafy corner of historic Kirkgate, surrounded by beautiful listed Georgian houses and lovely All Saints church. The pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and takeaways are all withing a short stroll. From the cottage, it's a pleasant five minute walk along the lane and across a footbridge over the River Cocker to the centre of town with all of its shops, cafes and restaurants. Wren Cottage was refurbished in 2021.
