McDowall Cottage on Blairquhan Castle Estate

Situated within the beautiful Blairquhan Castle Estate, McDowell cottage is the ideal retreat for a secluded short break. Surrounded by stunning views of unspoiled Ayrshire countryside, over 200 acres of private woodland, a garden pond and a huge walled garden, this two-bedroom self-catering cottage is newly refurbished and offers all amenities our guests will ever need to make their stay very comfortable and unforgettable. . McDowall Cottage was converted from a former Garden Bothy. built about 1800. It is romantically situated on the garden wall of Blairquhan Gardens. Downstairs McDowall Cottage has a dining room/living room with comfortable soft seating, a digital TV, a fully equipped kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer. A bathroom and bedroom with double bed. Upstairs there is a bedroom with two single beds. Guests can visit the Walled garden on the beautiful Blairquhan estates, and various walking routes as well. Estate office opens 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, all our office staff are more than happy to help our cottage guests. Out with office hours cottage guests can contact our key holder Martin if needing any assistance, Martin's contact number is listed in the information folder in all cottages. Blairquhan Estate is very close to many renowned Ayrshire golf courses - Trump Turnberry, Prestwick Golf Club, Royal Troon are all within 30 minutes drive making our cottages the ideal base for a golfing holiday. Ayrshire's most famous tourist attractions like Culzean Castle, Burns Museum, Heads of Ayr Farm, and Ayr Beach are all within 30 min drive from Blairquhan Estate The nearest train station is Maybole (10 min drive), the nearest airport is Glasgow Prestwick Airport (35 min drive). There are lots of beautiful walking routes on and around the Blairquhan Estates for our guests to enjoy. Please note that the Blairquhan Castle on the estate is run as a separate entity and is an exclusive use venue. Only Castle guests have the use of front lawn area and the flower garden to the side of the Castle. We kindly ask our cottage guests to use the path at the back of the Castle for getting in and out.
