French Cottage (disability/wheelchair friendly)
This beautiful home is located in the Morvan, it's a protected natural area slightly north of the famous Burgundy wine region. The landscape is characterized by sloping hills and many forests and meadows. The Morvan is sparsely populated, enjoys a very agreeable climate (not too hot in the summers) with an occasional drop of rain.It is nice and green. The house is suitable for families with young children, and ideal for families with a disabled family member (one bedroom and bathroom are completely altered and accessible for someone in a wheelchair or with a disability). The whole house (down floor) is accessible by wheelchair. “Les Roussias” is located approx. 2 km from Chissey-en-Morvan, a small village that has a bakery, a café, a church, a garage, a post office and a restaurant. 5 km from Chissey lies Lucenay l’Eveque, where there is a little neighbourhood supermarket and a pharmacist. In Autun and Saulieu (both appprox. 20 km from Chissey) you will find everything that you would expect to encounter in a Dutch town. The house is quaint and cosy, it has a comfortable living room and a spacious kitchen. It has 2 bedrooms, common spaces such as a living room with sofa-bed, a workshop with sofa-bed and 2 bathrooms (one fully equipped and accessible by wheelchair). This house is a nature house, it does not have central heating but it does have a fireplace. The house is wheelchair accessible, and has a bedroom/bathroom with all the comforts to host a person that is in a wheelchair. I will be available to reach by phone and e-mail. There will also be a person on stand-by who lives in the neighbouring village nearby, just in case. The direct surroundings of the house will offer you peace and quiet, space and a wonderful view. The house is part of a small neighbourhood community of 4 homes, with very kind and helpfull French neighbours. The neighbourhood, the region and the somewhat more remote surroundings offer the holiday-maker a wide range of sporting possibilities: • Marked walking routes, pram- and wheelchair-accessible • A small fast flowing river for fishing and canoeing • A few lakes with the famous Lac des Settons only 15 km away, for swimming, wind-surfing, sailing • Horse rental and horse riding tracks (within a radius of 100 km): - Autun, Avallon, Beaune and Vezelay are towns famous for their rich cultural history - l’Abbaye de Fontenay and Cluny are historically important religious centres - Bibracte is well-known for its Celtic excavations (it was once the capital of Gall).
