( If you prefer to bring your own that is fine but please note that there will not be a reduction to the price, We also ask that you let us know in advance of your stay) The house has underfloor heating in the cooler months (October - March) and separate heating upstairs. There is a log burner which guests can choose to use, we give one free basket of logs and then charge 8 euros a basket to help cover costs. Outside: The private terrace leading from the lounge area, has an outside dining table, chairs and parasol, BBQ and a small herb garden. There is a private parking area with easy access to the front doors when unloading the car etc., The small private garden is entered by an archway at the other side of the parking area. The garden has a gravelled sunbathing area with sunbeds and parasols, this has been planted with white flowering plants many of which are scented, the path then takes you into an area shaded by a beautiful lime tree under which sits a small bistro table and chairs. All outside areas are for the private use of the guests and have lovely views over the local countryside. We live in a converted barn behind and are available if you should need anything during your stay. We completely respect guests privacy and will not intrude at all during their stay apart from an emergency situation or to check on the garden from time to time.(Note that we would always check with guests beforehand and will always try to do it when they are not about or indoors.) Petit Hibou is situated in the heart of the beautiful Lot countryside, between the Dordogne and Lot rivers. The beautiful town of Cahors is just 20 minutes drive away, it is a must to visit with its famous bridge, historic old town and cathedral. There are some lovely shops and a colourful market twice a week. In the summer months there is the Cahors beach on the river Lot, an olympique size indoor pool and a fun outdoor pool to enjoy. The stunning villages of Rocamadour and St Circ lapopie are a short drive away. The area is rich in history and wildlife. Nearby are many sporting activities to suit every taste and plenty of things to do and see. The lake and beach at Catus is approximately 15 minutes drive from the house, it also has pedalos, tennis courts and a cafe/restaurant on site. We are lucky enough to have one of the top restaurants 'un canard sous l'olivier' just five minutes from the barn, but there are many other good restaurants in the area. The local Cahors wine is delicious and there are plenty of places to visit for a tasting. Airports nearest to us is Brive approx 45 minutes away, then Toulous approx 1h 30/45 minutes depending on traffic, Limoges, Bergerac are about 2 hours. Driving from the UK the Auto-route A20 passes through the Lot and we will send detailed directions nearer to your stay. There are also railway stations in Cahors and Gourdon with trains coming in from Paris or Toulouse. Car hire can be found at all the airports and the stations. Unfortunately Airbnb option choices are for children between 2-12 , we want guests to be fully aware that we feel that the house generally is more suitable for children over 5 years of age, (there are stairs and a low wall with a drop on the terrace) while we are happy to welcome children, guests must take full responsibility for their safety and stays are at the guests own risk. The hosts cannot not take responsibility should an accident occur. Although we love animals, we sadly cannot have your pets at Petit Hibou. We have a beautiful flat coat retriever called Meisie, who is very friendly and three cats and five chickens. None are allowed in PH and we try to discourage them from that side of the property. We do ask that if any of the cats or chickens come to visit, you shoo them away and do not give them any food. Normally they don’t like strangers and will hopefully keep well away. We welcome smokers providing that they agree not to smoke in or near to the house, we provide sand pots on the terrace and in the garden and we ask guests to make use of these. We will ask for 200 euros from the deposit should we feel that someone has been smoking in the house. In order to keep our price low we do not charge an obligatory cleaning fee. Guests can chose to clean and leave the property as they find it or we offer a cleaning service for an extra 60 euros to be paid locally. If you wish to use this service please can you tell us at least 3 days in advance. It is important to us that you have a wonderful stay at Petit Hibou, if there is anything you need or have a problem with, please tell us and we will do our best to sort it out for you. We want everything to be perfect for your stay but occasionally there can be a problem that is out of our control, we ask for your understanding should a situation like this occur and assure assure you that we will do everything possible to rectify the problem as quickly as we can.
