Fabulous farmhouse on biodynamic beef farm

Bowarra is an 80 hectare biodynamic beef farm 12 minutes from Wingham and 30 mins from the beach. Our property is bounded by the Manning river and Burrell Creek. The well appointed self contained house offers a peaceful and secluded paradise. The farm, river and creek are yours to enjoy. Canoeing, fishing, swimming, relaxing, picnicing and bush walks are all possible here on your doorstep. You can interact with us and our farm animals including cows, pigs, goats, horses, ducks and chickens. The charming federation farm house offers 5 generous bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms and a third toilet. Features include original tallow wood floors, high ceilings, stained glass doors and wrap around verandas. Bathrooms and kitchen living and dining are modern so you can enjoy the ambience of the old with the convenience of the new. The house is ideal for entertaining with a well appointed kitchen and suits gatherings of family, friends or a base for working in the local area. We have a piano, dressups, games, books plus canoes to use on the creek or river. Bring your swimmers to enjoy a swim in the creek, river or take the 30 minute drive to the beach. The farm, river and creek are yours to enjoy. Canoeing, fishing, swimming, relaxing, picnicking and walks are all possible here on your doorstep. Meet our horses, cows, goats, pig and collect eggs from our chooks (when they're not sitting on them to hatch). We endeavour to plant greens in the small vegie garden which you're welcome to pick. We do have koalas, wallabies, echidna, platypus and lots of birds on our property. No guarantees you'll see them but we often are able to spot koala up on the hilly area of our farm. We live in the house about 400 meters from Bowarra B & B. You can hardly see our house from yours but we're close enough to call on. We can help you with canoes and tips on what do do around the farm or in our local town and hinterland. We are happy to go above and beyond to make your stay special so let us know if there is anything you need or want. We welcome you to bring your children up to visit our pigs and goats at our house. If you like kayaking you can go for day and half day trips from our farm along the Manning River Either put in at Charity Creek (20 mins drive away) and paddle 2 to 3 hours with some rapids, ending up back at our farm or kayak from here to Wingham, approximately 5 to 6 hours. Wingham is less than 15 mins away by car but over 25 km by river. Beyond our property you can cycle along gently undulating country roads, visit our local beaches (30 mins away) with a great surf break at Old Bar and Saltwater beach (35 mins away). We love our little heritage town of Wingham. You can visit Wingham Brush, the local museum, or just enjoy "the friendly town". There are some great cafe's, Garden Grub and Bent on Food, along with antique shops, local arts and crafts, gift and clothes shops. We also have a camping and gun shop which reminds you that you are in a country town. A little further afield is Harrington and Crowdy Head (45 mins) and Ellenborough Falls at Elands (60 mins). There is also Potaroo Falls, Tapin Tops and many other nature hideaways to explore. Gloucester is 45 minutes west of us. The train from Sydney or Brisbane passes through Wingham and we can pick you up from the station if arranged in advance. As this is a working farm, you may see us moving fences and cattle as we cell graze, moving the stock every couple of days. To enter our property you drive along a 1 km dirt road down over the Burrell Creek bridge and up to our property. Virtually all cars are suitable for this drive except very low sports cars. If you are coming by very low sports car we can meet you up the top of the drive to bring you in. Our access bridge over Burrell Creek can go underwater in flood. We have had guests affected a few of times. Worst case scenario is you are flooded in beyond your booked date or you can't arrive on your booked date. This is rare. Never cross the bridge if water is flowing across it.
