Greengage House
Whether you're looking for a quiet & relaxing haven to escape & unwind from the hustle & bustle of a busy 21st Century life or a base to launch your trips to the Prom, the wineries or simply driving tours of the beautiful South Gippsland countryside, this cosy 120 year-old cottage allows for a calm and soothing getaway in the quaint village of Loch. Greengage House is an old worker's cottage comprising 2 individual private bedrooms, a lounge room with open fireplace and a kitchen/dining room. A large shower room and a separate toilet. The house is ideal for a relaxing get-together with a couple of friends (with the 2 sofa beds we can accommodate up to 6 adults) but it's cosy enough for just two to enjoy a romantic getaway. Out the back is a large under cover entertainment deck with an extendable dining table for up to 8 or more. Entire House I'm always available for any questions over the phone anytime and if necessary can be onsite within an hour. Our cottage is in the heart of beautiful, historic Loch Village. The Village is a quaint, quiet, laid-back place ideal for a relaxing break and getting back to basics. You can keep entirely to yourselves or have a yarn with the friendly locals. It's location is perfect for a short stroll to the charming atmosphere of Victoria Street's shops and cafes, the brewery and wine bar. Another short walk will take you to the old railway station and the renowned Suspension Bridge over Allsop's Creek. Even closer is Sunnyside Park with a marvellous children's playground and under cover electric BBQs. As well as boasting a real 'olde-world' charm, Loch is quite often a bustling, vibrant and festive place on weekends with the community market and other calendar events that welcome many day-trippers from Melbourne. The village usually reverts to its sleepy norm later in the afternoon becoming very quiet after 4pm. After busy weekends for the traders, many businesses are closed early in the week. Loch Village is just off the South Gippsland Highway (A440) approx 10 minutes short of Korumburra. It's just a one hour drive from Melbourne's south eastern & eastern suburbs. There's a VLine Bus service that stops in Victoria Street, Loch for travel to and from Southern Cross Station, Melbourne or to Yarram and beyond if you're heading to East Gippsland. There are some beautiful drives to be taken through the surrounding rolling hills to Kongwak, Archies Creek, Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Venus Bay. San Remo and Phillip Island are also relatively close by and if you're heading to Wilson's Promontory, Loch makes for an ideal stepping off point by breaking up the long journey there from Melbourne. There's a well established winery trail, numerous cheese producers and of course the Coal Creek Community Park & Museum is just 10 minutes away in Korumburra.
