Tall Trees Chalet - Yarra Valley

Tall Trees Chalet is nestled in the rainforest above Healesville in the Yarra Valley. It's a detached dwelling, but within reach of the main house on our 5 acre property. Surrounded by trees, creeks, ferns, wildlife & gardens, it's the perfect base to explore the region. We live on the property with our two young children & are happy to interact or give you privacy. Hampers, cheese platters, charcuterie, massages and wine tours can be arranged on request. We look forward to hosting you! The space was designed & hand built by your hosts in a mountain Chalet style with high ceilings, lots of natural light, quality fittings and an open plan feel. The kitchen & bathroom bench-tops are made from timber harvested on the property. There is a Queen size bed with quality linen and fold out double sofa for up to two extra guests though it is more suited to children than adults due to size. Plush towels, smart TV with Netflix, split system A/C, WiFi and dimmable LED lighting complete the space. Guests can park right at the door with easy access and no steps. Enjoy your complimentary slippers as you enter. The fit-out features a kitchenette with sink, microwave, toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine & fridge; ample for most short stays. A new electric BBQ and Bluetooth speaker is also provided. We provide freshly ground coffee for the plunger as well as pods for the coffee machine and also instant coffee. A selection of teas are available as well as small long life milks & sugar. You will find bottled water, sparkling water and filtered tap water in the fridge. There is also all the cutlery/crockery you need, plus chopping boards, microwave containers etc as well as salt & pepper. In the bathroom, treat yourself with deluxe Kudos toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion & shower gel). A hairdryer is under the sink. If you'd like to have something special to enjoy on arrival or in the morning/evening, we can arrange to have a variety of locally produced hampers, cheese platters and charcuterie boxes delivered fresh to the Chalet. These are great value and range from simple snacking selections through to gourmet champagne breakfasts! Please get in touch to discuss prices/options. Private massage treatments can be arranged either in the Chalet by a qualified therapist or at a local boutique Day Spa where guests receive VIP service and a discount. Please get in touch for assistance with booking. Wine tours are also available from your host, Chris, who is an experienced wine tour guide. A private full day tour in a luxury BMW with gourmet two course winery lunch is a great way to experience some of the smaller family owned wineries in the Valley. If you are visiting in winter the Chalet is cosy and warm, perfect for exploring the nearby mountains which all get a covering of snow, just 10 mins drive up the hill. We occasionally get snow on the property during winter peak as well! In summer, visit the creek to cool off in complete privacy among the ferns. Lay in the shallows on the river stones in the crystal clear water and soak up a truly unique bathing experience! King parrots are friendly daily visitors and can be fed all year round, or wander down and pat the family chickens 'Henny and Penny". Bring your binoculars for spotting rare birds and go out at night with a torch to find owls, wombats and wallabies. Covid cleaning: We use commercial grade cleaning products including 'ViraClean' which kills Covid. All touch points and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned to the highest standard during changeover. Disposable sanitising wipes are provided as well as disposable gloves, cleaning cloths, paper towel, hand sanitiser and air freshener. You will have access to the entire space, as well as the surrounding property. Please note that your map may not accurately direct you to our driveway. Please turn off at the 'Strathvea' sign and keep left at the forks along the shared driveway. We are likely to be available at most times, however, guests may occasionally have to check in on their own if we are not home. A key lock containing keys will be accessible in this case along with detailed instructions on how to access the guest house. Our neighbourhood, beyond the Toolangi forest which surrounds us, is the world renowned Yarra Valley wine region of which a private tour is recommended. Healesville, the hub of the valley is at the end of the road, just a few minutes drive. There are also many great walks, rides and drives in the State Forest and National Parks surrounding the valley, as well as the world famous Healesville Sanctuary. There are a selection of day spas to choose from, as well as balloon flights, helicopter/scenic flights, sky-diving, gourmet farm tours and food trails to follow. The region caters for every imaginable want and need, from basic to boutique. We are a beautiful 10 min drive from Healesville main street. We provide tourist maps and visitor info for guests. Dinner and event transfers can be arranged by request for a small additional charge. Private wine tours are also offered by your host. We share a driveway with three other acreages. If driving from Healeaville, turn left into the driveway at the 'Strathvea' sign off the main road. Keep to your left at each fork, following the signs for 'Tall Trees 753'. Our driveway has a gate with a 'Private Property' sign. If you are checking in on your own you will find a key-lock on the gate. The code will be provided should you need it. Please drive slowly to avoid dust and be cautious as there may be children playing. We will be contactable by phone if you need us. We are located on Wurundjeri Country.
