Welcome to your leafy oasis in inner north Canberra. The Purple House is a creative and character filled home 5 minutes walk from a cool cafe with great coffee, supermarket, restaurants, & public transport. Nearby is Mt Majura nature park, farmers market, and Exhibition Park. Only ten minutes drive to the city, you’ll love the bright spacious room, guest bathroom with spa, sunny deck, lush garden, and friendly dog. Breakfast on sourdough, jam, tea, coffee and organic milk (or soy) - and relax! Wake up to the sounds of birds and look out on our beautiful native garden which backs onto a nature reserve. The Purple House is a unique, tranquil and arty oasis. Your room is located separately from other sleeping areas and offers the use of a gorgeous guest bathroom and spa bath. We supply tea, coffee and your preferred milk (organic cow's or soy) with jam, honey and spreads. If you'd like sourdough bread (or homemade muesli when available) for breakfast just let us know beforehand when you book. Joani is a wellbeing coach and Hawaiian massage therapist - so just ask to book a relaxing kahuna massage treatment during your stay. In your large, lockable room you’ll find a small fridge, toaster, kettle and crockery. Your colourful guest bathroom includes a spa bath. There’s also a desk with lovely garden view, as well as board games and plenty of books to read during your stay. You’ll have access to our large, north facing deck as well laundry facilities and leafy garden. There's free Wi-Fi that's always on, air-conditioning (plus fan and heater in your room), and gas heater and open fire in the living room. You can come and go as you please via the rear door. Access to living areas and main kitchen is at our invitation and we’re often happy for a chat. We will greet you, welcome you to the room and show you around the house. Watson is a lovely leafy inner north suburb of Canberra – that has the best of everything our bush capital has to offer. Nestled at the foot of Mount Majura nature reserve, you can enjoy birdsong, bushwalks, and the buzzing of bees while a mere 10 minutes away by car you'll find trendy cafés in the city centre. For overseas visitors wanting to see kangaroos, possums and other native wildlife they are literally right outside your door. Feeling lazy? Saunter through green space and tree-lined streets to our local café less than five minutes away. You’ll have access to great coffee, take away food, Vietnamese restaurant, chemist and postal services along with a beautician and hairdressers. The Saturday EPIC farmers markets – also within walking distance - are not to be missed! Great local fresh foods, coffee and snacks – a good way to stock up or have breakfast. Dickson shopping centre is less than 4kms away and has an outdoor swimming pool, large supermarket, bottle shops, gyms, bars and restaurants. Sometimes called Canberra’s ‘China Town’, around Woolley Street you’ll also find Indian, Ethiopian, Italian, Japanese and South-East Asian restaurants as well as Chinese restaurants and grocers. The trendy suburb of Braddon is 10 minutes away, and has a host of bars, restaurants, cafes and specialty boutiques. Nearby is the Canberra Centre and city centre which covers all your shopping, working and nightlife needs. The house is less than five minutes to local bus services. Catch the 39 bus to the city, via Dickson shopping centre, in under 20 minutes. Or drive there in 10. Canberra is known for its excellent bike path system and you can ride via leafy paths all the way to city centre in half an hour (borrow our bikes for free). Mountain bike trails are close to the house, and there is a trail that leads all the way to the National War Memorial, and on to Lake Burley Griffin and all Canberra’s national monuments and attractions. Well located for visitors driving from Sydney, Watson is just off the highway, close to the airport and also allows a quick getaway when you want to head to gorgeous south coast beaches. We share our home with a friendly well behaved labradoodle called ‘Rupert’ (who loves to say hello before retiring to his favourite resting spot). Canberra has loads more to offer than people think – with plenty of public galleries, monuments and museums, great food, and stunning natural places, swimming holes and parks. International and local theatre, arts and sporting events take place throughout the year, check online to plan your stay. Due to Canberra’s compact size and excellent design you can get around easily - no negotiating long queues or sitting in traffic. We love to share Canberra's secret attractions - you’ll get local knowledge of all the best things to do that you might not otherwise discover.
