Puddler Cottage is a traditional former mining cottage in the quiet peaceful Seaside Village of Askam on the shores of the beautiful Duddon Estuary. The Western Lake District and miles of pet friendly beaches are on your doorstep .Askam has a Fish and Chip Shop, Chinese & Indian Takeaway/ Restaurant, Bakery, Farm Shop/ Butcher/Ice-Cream Parlour, Post Office, Off Licence, local Pub,Coop, Playground, Picnic Areas and Railway Station are all just a few minutes walk away from Puddler Cottage. Puddler Cottage is a newly renovated former miner terraced cottage in a quiet cul de sac sleeping 3. The lovely peaceful dog friendly beach is yards away and stretches for miles to Sandscale Haws as featured in Countryfile .Parking for 1 car is in front of the Cottage on an unadopted road. There is a small sunny secure yard for bicycles at the rear with seating . The back gate leads to the beach and sand dunes. Spiral Staircase. Askam is a very friendly village and can be explored on foot. An ideal base for visiting the quieter side of the Lake District but yet with the beautiful scenery and lots of local walks still on your doorstep. The choice is yours head inland to explore the fells and lakes of the Western Lake District or walk for miles on the beautiful unspoilt beaches from your doorstep. Alternatively leave the car and take a trip on the picturesque West Coast Trainline to Ravenglass for the Steam Railway , Ulverston for the " Hoad " or the Victorian Resort of Grange-over-Sands, all within easy reach. Askam is a village and can be explored on foot. Black Combe the " Marilyn " you see across the estuary was a Wainwright and Wordsworth favourite with spectacular views to as far away as Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man. To the South of Askam lies the National Trust Site of Sandscale Haws as featured in Countryfile with its rare Natterjack Toad Ponds and miles of Sand Dunes. A little further along on the coast is Piel Island with its ruined castle and the very popular Ship Inn. The South Walney Nature Reserve as featured on " Chris and Megs Wild Summer" is home to Cumbria s only colony of Grey Seals. South Lakes Safari Zoo is a 10 minute drive from Askam.
