Our friendly B&B is only 1 mile from Big Pit Mining Museum, Blaenavon Ironworks, Cordell Community Museum and more. NCN Cycle Route 492 is 100 yards away and the landscape is ideal for walkers too. Whatever the weather the views are great! Paul and Heidi would like to welcome you to their home. We bought 2 adjacent houses and combined them into one to make the 4 star Oakfield B&B located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Blaenavon on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. **ACCOMMODATION** We welcome business & tourists alike. Our family room has: -4 single beds located in 2 adjacent bedrooms connected by a door (a fifth bed can be added, if necessary) -private bathroom solely for the use of room occupants a few steps across the landing (not en-suite) -bathroom has toilet, wash basin and over-bath shower. -wash basin in the bedroom. -tea/coffee making facilities -towels -access to free Wifi -guest information folder -TV with DVD -hairdryer -adjustable thermostats on radiators plus hot water bottles (for the really cold winter nights!) -- Guests will be given their own bedroom and front door key so they are able to come and go freely. - Laundry facilities - charged separately For those wishing to have breakfast there is a guests dining area. The menu includes full cooked breakfast with cereals and toast or lighter options, such as continental. Home made jams and marmalades are also on the menu. Guests will be asked on arrival what they would like for breakfast (to make sure we have the provisions in stock) and at what time (between 7:00-9:00am) ** PRICES ** For guests not requiring breakfast a reduced rate may apply. This is a non-smoking establishment. Guests may smoke outside the front door. No food is to be eaten in the room, especially take-aways. The dining area can be used on request. Vehicles are parked at the owners risk. No responsibility for contents, or damage, is accepted by Oakfield B&B. For the comfort of other guests, no pets are allowed. We have 2 other rooms available - 1 double ensuite and 1 twin ensuite - both listed on AirBnB There is also a separate guests lounge with TV and information point for walks, events and attractions in the area. The bedroom and lounge has books available for guests to borrow during their stay. Attractions within walking distance include 'Big Pit' the National Mining Museum of Wales, Cordell Community Museum and the historic Ironworks. Throughout the summer, and on special weekends, Blaenavon & Pontypool Railway volunteers run steam, or diesel, trains to a station approx 100 yards from our house. We are also 100 yards from National Cycle Network route 492. The area is excellent for walking, cycling, bird watching and sight seeing. Family history research is also popular with the new records office at Ebbw Vale. The town is conveniently located to allow access to many other attractions – Brecon Beacons National Park, Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, Caerleon Roman remains and ampitheatre and many castles including Abergavenny, Raglan, Chepstow, Caerphilly and Cardiff. Retail therapy is within reach too! **ACCESS & TRANSPORT** CAR: There is easy access from the M4 motorway (15 miles) and other towns/cities close by include Abergavenny, Brynmawr, Cwmbran, Caerleon, Newport and Cardiff. Contact us for postcode if using satnav. TRAIN: the nearest stations are Pontypool (unmanned), Cwmbran or Abergavenny. BUS: X24 bus leaves Newport every 10 minutes (up to 6:00pm & not inc Sundays) and goes through Cwmbran & Pontypool before arriving at Blaenavon. The bus stop is 200 yards from our house. Check Traveline Cymru if coming from other directions. CARDIFF: While there is a good bus service X24 from Newport (every 15 mins) there is no direct bus route to Cardiff. For Cardiff catch X24 bus to Cwmbran then either change buses or catch a train to Cardiff from there. PARKING: The parking is private and off-road with a secure lock-up for bicycles and motorbikes. EATING OUT: There are several food choices within walking distance, including take-aways and pubs.
