Situated in the historic village of Milton Abbas, Dorset, the Little Pink House originally housed the village fire engines. It has been lovingly converted into a hideaway for two. Milton Abbas is one of the most beautiful villages in the South-West. Nestled in a valley, the single street is lined with near-identical thatched cottages. The Little Pink House is private & self-contained with your own entrance, courtyard garden and driveway. It features a separate bedroom & handmade kitchen area. The Little Pink House is a beautifully furnished self-contained apartment in the historic village of Milton Abbas, Dorset. Originally built to house the engines for the village fire station, the Little Pink House has been lovingly converted into a cosy rural apartment and is situated beside our old thatched cottage. The whole house is yours to enjoy – it is fully self contained with its own driveway for off road parking, entrances and private courtyard garden. The Little Pink House comprises a bedroom; a fully equipped handmade oak kitchen area; living room with a television, sofa, table and chairs; and bathroom with a large shower, fluffy towels and selection of toiletries. There is also a small private courtyard with table, chairs and a chiminea where you can enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine or a glass of wine by the fire in the evenings. I have spent a lot of time perfecting the small details in the Little Pink House: you'll find plenty of unique pieces including an Ercol sofa, stained glass windows and coat-hooks handmade from vintage shoe stretchers. I've equipped the Little Pink House with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including: a television, wifi internet, luxury walk-in shower and all bedding and towels. The kitchen has two hobs, fridge, oven, kettle and toaster and there are plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. As for Milton Abbas, it is one of the most beautiful villages in the South-West. Nestled in a valley surrounded by woodland and walking trails, the single street is lined with near-identical cob thatched cottages. There is a fantastic village pub just 1 minute away, tearooms and a post office. Milton Abbey is a short walk down the road and you'll be able to find most of your basic supplies at the local farm shop. The Little Pink House is right in the middle of the village, just opposite the church. The Engine Room is self contained accommodation. The whole building and courtyard is yours to enjoy. You have your own entrance, off road parking and courtyard garden. I shall be on hand to welcome you and and happy to help with any tips and local advice (I have lived in the village for 30 years!) but The Little Pink House is fully private. I will interact with you as much or as little as you would like. Milton Abbas is a beautiful historic village in Dorset, England. The village is famous for its 36 chocolate box-style, whitewashed thatch and cob cottages that line the single winding street. Milton Abbas is set in a valley which is surrounded by woodland and is perfect for country walks. Many cyclists also enjoy the area. At the bottom of the village is a pathway known as Monk’s Path which leads to Milton Abbey, a stunning abbey with landscaping designed by Capability Brown, which is open to visitors. Nestled in the woods by the Abbey is St Catherine Chapel with a beautiful view point looking down at Milton Abbey, across the fields and down the grass steps. The village was commissioned in 1780 by Joseph Damer and originally had a bakers, blacksmith, brewery and a fire house, of which the Little Pink House is part of and was where the fire engines were originally kept. There is plenty to do nearby. The village pub (The Hambro Arms) is a short stroll up the village. It serves both lunchtime and evening meals including Sunday roast. In the summer months you can sit outside with your drink and admire the view down the village. There is a small post office/shop for essentials, confectionary and postcards. There is also a lake at the bottom of the village in which you can pay to fish, as well as a golf course at Milton Abbey. There are many surrounding villages with a selection of great pubs. Dorchester, a small county town, is nearby and home to author Thomas Hardy. You are also a short drive away from both the Jurassic Coast and Sandbanks beach. I would advise having a car here for getting around but you can leave it parked on the drive and spend your time walking and exploring the local area if want you want to get away from it all! The location is fantastic for cycling and walking with beautiful surrounding countryside. There are buses that run daily through the village which will take you to nearby towns (Blandford, Dorchester etc). Our nearest airport is Bournemouth and nearest train station station is Dorchester. Trains run regularly from London Waterloo to Dorchester (13 miles from Milton Abbas). Please note that during lockdown I have been updating The Little Pink House so it will look slightly different from the current photographs. Updated pictures soon!
