(Safe and private during Covid 19!) Living in harmony with Nature is the motto of our family. To share our paradise with those who feel the same, it's a passion. We live in a beautiful old Watermill, in the quietness of a valley, with the birds singing, the eagle flying, the wind whispering in the trees and the brightness of the stars. We are 30 min from the beach, 15 min from Sintra / Mafra and 40 min from Lisbon. Check the pictures captions to know exactly what you can expect from the house and surroundings. Our old house, support to the main Azenha (Water Mill), is about 100 years old and has been totally and proudly rebuilt by us. You can still feel the history that gave it life on the beautiful stone walls, but it has the comfort that we need nowadays, including wi-fi. The main house was a flour mill and olive oil press, and a reference to the village. The pedestrian path that passes through the house, along the surrounding watercourse, has wonderful and amazing landscapes and we like to share the various local secrets of beaches, markets and waterfalls with those who visit us. The house is small (35m2) but very cozy, and since we live right next door, if anything is missing, we are happy to help. (with Covid 19, we will no longer share spaces outside but help is still here if you need) There is no Tourist tax up until the end of 2020 as stated by Mafra Council due to Covid 19. During Covid 19 you can still find here a beautiful and safe location for you to rest also outside in the middle of nature. We have a nice 35 m2 garden with lounging area to catch Portugal's sun while immersed in Nature and a meals area with a large table for long meals outside, listening to the birds or watching the stars. You can access the space directly from your house door. Both house and garden have private access, and our family, does not use those spaces, complying with all the aspects of social distance required by the pandemic state. We are very pleased to give you tips on sites and experiences in Sintra, Mafra, Lisbon, Cascais that are genuine and appreciated by locals like us. On request, we can get you to know fado (traditional Portuguese music) in a unique way, since we are professionals of this art and we are part of the most traditional places. (Sing Fado) Tips for vegetarian / vegan food travel in Portugal are also part of our interests and we can teach you how to cook Portuguese traditional dishes in a vegetarian way. Cheleiros is a small village, an old Roman village, of which an old bridge still stands, situated on a steep descent full of vineyards and a river. It is located 15 minutes between Mafra and Sintra and surrounded by beautiful and recondite landscapes on the paths to the Carvalhal, Anços and Lexim. Cheleiros has a wine museum and a local wine shop. It is almost at the foot of an extinct ancient volcano (Penedo do Lexim), with beautiful volcanic landscapes and many ancient mills. A 30 minute walk, in a wonderful landscape along the brook, and you arrive at a typical Portuguese village, a living Museum in a magnificent state of conservation. 1 hour walk or 15 min by car there is the natural fantastic Waterfall of Anços. Our village has a small convenient shop and 2 cafes within 10 minutes walk, and several supermarkets and restaurants within 10 and 15 minutes drive. Sintra, a 15-minute drive away is a World Heritage Site, with its lush landscapes and unique wonderful palaces Mafra, also 15 minutes away, has the largest library in Europe and an iconic convent. The beaches of Sintra, Cascais and Ericeira (surfing championships) are less than half an hour away. We advise the car for greater independence of travel, but there are vans for Sintra and Mafra every 2 hours between 6am and 8pm. From Sintra there is a train to Lisbon and transport to beaches of Sintra and Cascais, and from Mafra, you can get to Ericeira. So, if well planned according to the transport schedules, it is possible to be without car and reach the most emblematic sites. - We have a blind dog, getting old, who does not like sharing his space with other animals, but is very sweet with people. - We have two cats, that enjoy visiting guests. You can always send them away. They will survive :)
