This attractive recently renovated holiday cottage, formerly a stone stable, stands in the grounds of the our home, in the tiny Somerset hamlet of Ilford, on the outskirts of the lovely market town of Ilminster, close to the East Devon and Dorset borders.    Within very easy reach of the M5, A358 and the A303, it is a perfect spot for short break by itself, or en route to the deeper West Country.  Two and a half hours drive from London, one hour from Bristol and 20 minutes from Taunton. The entirely ground floor accommodation comprises: Open plan living/dining/kitchen area featuring wood burner, underfloor heating, Freesat TV,  WiFi,  electric easy clean hob, electric oven, microwave, dining table and four chairs, two seater sofa and two comfy chairs.   Two bedrooms: one room has a king-size bed and the other is a twin room.  Large wet room with shower, toilet, sink, grab rails and shower seat. The accommodation is very flexible and can be adapted according to number of guests in your party and their individual abilities but please note we cannot exceed the number of guests above four, which includes babies and infants. Patio with sitting-out area, four-seater picnic bench and storage.  Parking (2 cars).  Cycle store. Welcome pack. Wheelchair accessible. No smoking.  Use of our large garden, orchard and young woodland for walking. We have two very friendly donkeys, Maddie and Jack, who love a scratch between the ears! Underfloor heating throughout.  Electricity, bed linen, towels and beach towels included. Bed bumpers available for young children.  We are very close to the National Cycle Network routes 30 and 33. For those with limited mobility: The property was built around the needs of a young lady with Retts Syndrome.  It has wheelchair friendly floors in the living area and twin room.  It has a ramp on each side of the front door and level access from the patio to the parking area.  It has a good size wet room and a shower commode is available for use, as well as bed bumpers.  A hoist can be hired from a local company if required (additional cost). Our garden, orchard and woodland areas are all flat. We have a list of places to visit and walks that are suitable for wheelchairs/buggies. We live the in the adjacent detached house so will be close by in case of any queries but you will have your privacy. There are a number of walks from the doorstep and The Old Stable is within easy reach of the Mendip Way, Ham Hill Country Park, several National Trust properties including Barrington House, Montecute and Lytes Carys.   Lyme Regis is a 25 minute drive away, with Charmouth, West Bay, Seaton and Sidmouth a little further on (as well as the lovely town and beach at Sidmouth it is the also the home of the famous Donkey Sanctuary and the Assisted Donkey Therapy Centre).  The town of Glastonbury is only a 40-minute drive away, with its 14th-century tower dominating the landscape of Glastonbury Tor.  Yeovilton Air Museum, Herstercombe Gardens and Haynes Motor Museum are also popular attractions within easy reach.  Attending a wedding at Dillington House? The Old Stable is around a mile away, so a perfect place to stay. Your own transport is required due to our rural location. The space is very flexible and furniture can be moved/removed as required depending on the make up of your party. If there is a wheelchair user in your group, please let me know as I will then send you a video walkthrough so that you can be entirely sure that the space is suitable. Although it works very well for some wheelchair users I am very aware that every wheelchair user will have different requirements and so want to know that our place will suit you before confirming the booking. Merryfield Airfield is a couple of miles away and is used by the Royal Navy for helicopter training. Some days you may see one or two helicopters flying round and doing some dramatic manoeuvres.
