Riverside Cottage-Walks-Hot Tub
Close to the River Hamble, with Riverside walks nearby and close to Swanwick Marina. Visit Historic Portsmouth Dockyard and the Cruise city of Southampton, this Grade II listed cottage is perfect to relax/explore or HotTub/Americas Cup/Cowes wk. Pubs within a very short walk or just go crabbing on the river with the kids. Fairthorne Manor is within a few miles and caters for children to have adventure days in school hols, kayaking, climbing, archery and much much more allowing adults to relax. Relaxing home from home in the beautiful riverside cottage, with 2 double bedrooms which can be set as two Kingsize beds or a Kingsize and two singles. Has a small steep cottage staircase and a downstairs bathroom which has been modernised with a powerful shower over the bath. This 200 + old cottage has low beams and doorways which is a typical English character. Parking is directly outside. It has a wood burner for those cold nights but has a sunny garden perfect for jumping in the hot tub no matter what time of year. Most fittings are new including coffee machine and microwave. The Cottage is traditional with one bedroom gaining access through the other but separated by a door. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and step outside the front door and watch the river at any time of day as there is always something to see. We have 3 kayaks which take 4 people in all at the cottage. Let us know in advance if you wish to use them as we can give you some useful advice. It also a bird spotters delight as there are many different species and some protected areas for breeding and migrating birds. Or if the history of old ships and wrecks is your thing well there are many on the Hamble and Old Portsmouth is well worth a visit. The previous owners have described the Cottage as having good karma! Guests will have free access to the whole house, private garden and private use of Hot tub. Please let us know in advance if you wish to use the Kayaks so we can give some additional advice. Will be available with any questions throughout your stay as we live close by. But happy for you to gain access without the need to meet your host. We like to give you space to enjoy yourselves but can offer advice about where to eat or visit. The Hamble is the busiest water way in the UK, the wild life is all around. There is the Solent Way immediately outside of the door. There are numerous other walks nearby or why not kayak to a nearby pub. Alternatively check out the famous wrecks along the river at low tide. In the summer months watch the enormous Cruise ships pass the Hamble on their way to the Solent. Immediately outside the door is a Stand Up Paddle Board and Kayak hire company, for those wanting to adventure up or down the Hamble. For those Parents wanting to give their children some adventure while giving themselves a break. Fairthorne Manor run by the YMCA has School Holiday Day Camps offering a wide selection of activities and is approximately a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Bursledon railway station is less that a half mile walk from the Cottage, easy access to the motorway and parking directly outside of the cottage. Or cycle along the Solent Way. Cars can also be rented currently EuRopcar are very competitive and can be rented from Southampton Airport which is next to Southampton Airport Parkway railway station. Just 1hr 10mins from Waterloo. Trains can also take to to Southampton or Portsmouth or the New Forest and Bournemouth. Superfast WiFi, great location, lovely Cottage, you can sense the nautical history of this area. There is no washing machine at the cottage but there is a company locally that can collect and wash for a fee. They are called Pressing Needs. We do have an outdoor double socket at the front of the property that you could use to plug in a hybrid vehicle if you bring your connector with you.
