Morningside Room w/ Gardens, Sauna, Yoga Space

*Because this is a shared space, I am hesitant to accept reservations but willing to discuss options with vaccinated guests while the spread of variants continue.* My home is bright, quiet, and surrounded by nature, yet just 1 mile east of downtown Iowa City. Convenient location for all downtown and U Iowa services/facilities, hospitals, and Kinnick Stadium. Perfect for visiting scholars & traveling medical professionals in town for a bit. Compliant & registered with Iowa City for rental/Airbnb. My home is bright, quiet, and surrounded by nature, yet just 1 mile from downtown Iowa City. It's a 2-bedroom, one story bungalow built in 1948 with many original features and wood floors throughout. My style is a little vintage and a little Bohemian, which fits perfectly with the house's original features! The front and backyards are landscaped with perennial native plants, and there is a small patio, hammock, and outdoor seating. I'm currently working on getting my backyard certified as a National Wildlife Federation "Backyard Habitat." The guest room is colorful and comfortable, with plenty of space and privacy, two large closets, a lot of afternoon sunlight, and an air purifier. There is one full bathroom on the main floor, that I share as well. The kitchen, living room, dining room, and basement zen space are all yours to enjoy! Breakfast fixings include breakfast bars, coffee, and organic frozen fruit for oatmeal & smoothies. Guests will also have access to the washer/dryer and infrared sauna. My schedule varies between a typical 8-5, Monday-Friday schedule to traveling occasionally across the state and country for work. I'm active and social, so I may be around on the weekends, or I may be off visiting friends and family. Please note that I live in the home full time and occasionally work from home. A shared home of this size is not well-suited for a romantic getaway. Despite being a mile from downtown, this neighborhood is quiet and family friendly. Historically, it was the county fairgrounds, and my street was part of a trolley line! The neighbors are always friendly, but please be quiet and respectful when coming and going. Note: Most guests really like the location, as it is a short drive to everything Iowa City has to offer. Many guests very much enjoy the one-mile walk/drive/bus/Uber to the east side of downtown, while others feel that is far. It is a residential neighborhood, and while everything is just one-mile away, there are no restaurants or grocery stores within that one mile. There is ample street parking, directly in front of the house. There are three city bus stops within 1-4 blocks. Iowa City has several taxi companies and Lyft/Uber for those who don't have or don't wish to use their car. You will have access to wi-fi and internet TV (Hulu, Netflix, HBOGO, etc) in the living room, and feel free to browse my books and vinyl. I've converted the back room of my basement into a "zen space" for yoga, quiet time, and color/heat therapy in the infrared sauna. The floor is entirely matted for yoga and stretching. You are welcome to respectfully use this space! Many previous guests who knew my cat, Critter, will be sad to hear he passed away. I now have two new kittens whose personalities are still developing! Brigid and Bo have a lot of energy and love to play, but seem to do their own thing when people are around. Because I'm slightly allergic to cats, I sweep, dust, and vacuum often! There are also air purifiers in the guest room and living room.
