Florentine Cottage is nestled in the heart of the small town of Maydena. The cottage is located less then 200m from the Maydena Bike Park base. The cottage is cosy & comfortable fitted out with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. If you share a love for the outdoors and mountain biking then Florentine Cottage is the place for you! The cottage is fitted out with comfortable and stylish furnishing for your stay. The lounge has a huge sofa which will comfortably fit 6 people, a large screen TV with Netflix and internet access, a reverse cycle air-conditioner and a wood pellet heater for those chilly nights. There is a selection of board games, books & magazines for your use. Off the lounge there is dining room for eat-in meals and a covered porch to enjoy your morning coffee. At the back of the house there is a large backyard, a deck with a 4 burner gas BBQ and outdoor table setting for your use. For those coming to enjoy the bike park we have a shed available for bike storage and an outdoor wash down area for your bikes. The main bedroom is fitted with a comfy queen bed, electric blankets, plenty of hanging space and an electric heater. The second bedroom is again fitted with a comfy queen bed, electric blankets and plenty of hanging space and an electric heater. The third bedroom is fitted with 2 single beds, electric blankets, hanging space and an electric heater. There is a portacot available for use should you need it. It can be found in the main bedroom closet. There is a full bathroom inside the cottage and a second toilet next to the laundry. The laundry is fitted with a washing machine, dryer and clothes airer for use during your stay. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for self-catering including a Nespresso pod coffee machine. Access to the property is via self check-in with a pin code that we will provide you with. You will have access to the entire house, front & backyard. There is plenty of parking on the driveway and on the street. We do not live locally but are available over the phone and Airbnb message app should you have any queries at all during your stay. We employ a local management agency to look after and clean the property. They will also be available should you require any assistance during your stay. The small riverside village of Maydena is the gateway to Tasmania's World Heritage wilderness and an ideal stop for those on their way to remote Lake Peddar. Maydena sits by the Tyenna River, south west of New Norfolk between Mount Field National Park and Lake Pedder. The village has a rich forestry heritage but is now better known for its close proximity to some of Tasmania's most beautiful natural places including Mt Field National Park and Southwest National Park. Mt Field National Park, before Maydena, is home to one of Tasmania's most beautiful waterfalls - Russell Falls, a tiered–cascade waterfall just a short walk from the park's visitor centre and one of several waterfalls in the vicinity. At Maydena, experiences include a walk though some of the tallest trees on earth at the Styx Big Tree Reserve and the Railtrack Riders - a unique pedal-powered experience on an historic stretch of railway track. Maydena Bike Park is a gravity-focused mountain bike park offering something for everyone, from families through to elite riders. The Summit café and bar located at the top of the bike park offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Tasmania, with unrivalled 360-degree alpine views across stunning Tasmanian Wilderness. Maydena also offers a range of great rainforest walks that take in local wildlife, towering swamp gums, river and cave systems, glacial lakes and ancient heath groves. Maydena is located 1.5 hour drive from Hobart airport. There are limited public transport options. Rental Cars with bike racks are available for hire from the airport or Hobart CBD. There are also a few transport companies offering shuttles from the airport; Maydena Express Tasmanian Mountain Bike Adventures Premium MTB Transfers We recommend you come prepared with groceries, as food options are somewhat limited in town. The closest grocery store is Woolworths, located in New Norfolk (about a 40min drive from Maydena). The local Maydena general store stocks basic supplies and a few hot food items. The Bike Park Café have a range of food available for lunches. The National Park Pub (located 10min from Maydena) also provide bistro meals but opening times do change seasonally so it’s best to check times before hand.
