Small hamlet with strong community Stunning views Plenty of lovely walks, bike rides and beautiful towns and attractions. There is no public transport so it is advisable to hire a car or bring a bike. Directions by Road: From the North Exit the A 10 autoroute at Poitiers and take the N 10 to Angouleme. It is all dual carriageway, but watch out for several intersections where the speed limit drops to 90. Follow the N 10 (direction Bordeaux), skirt around Angouleme and exit to your left (ie you exit right and re cross the N 10. There is a sign for a hospital which you will see on your right. Go straight on, over a roundabout, under the railway, up the hill, over a second roundabout, and turn right at the third roundabout for Montmoreau and Libourne. It is a good D road, D674. Follow the road to Montmoreau which is about 18 kms, and then exit left toward Riberac/St Severin on D 709. Here you have to cross the TGV line and turn right immediately up a hill. After about 2 kms fork right to Aubeterre on D 10. About 16 kms further, you get to Aubeterre, which you skirt leaving the village on your left, and follow the signs for Riberac, D2. You have to go down a little hill, and turn right over the Dronne (clean and good for swimming if you get fed up with our heated pool but B cold). Aubeterre is a lovely village with pubs etc and a monolithic church. After crossing the river, keep straight for about 2 kms, then through St Antoine Cumond, D43 up the hill, past the Relais on your left, straight on at the junction at the end of the village, (stay on the D 43 and follow the signs for Vanxains and or St Astier). The road meanders down a hill, and then there is a longish hill (I know since I cycle it) and about half way up there is a cross roads, where you turn right for Festalemps. This junction is about 8 kms from Aubeterre. Follow this road for about 1 km, until you hit another cross roads (cemetery on your left). Go straight over though Festalemps (church where Ewan McGregor was married - very tight bend). Continue for about 2 kms through open country until you see a small road on the left with a sign for Laudibertie. This is the second tarmac road on your left after Festalemps. The junction is a fork, shortly after a crossroads. There is a nice little bungalow on the left as you turn left and drop down the hill. Follow this road for about 1 km, and then turn left, signposted Laudibertie and Moulin de Laudibertie. (there is a pond on your right as you turn left). Go down the lane for about 400 metres, and as the lane bears right, you will see a small lane going down hill on your right. This brings you to the house on the right of the lane after another 100 metres. It has a large parking gravel area at the side overlooking the garden/pool and field etc. The house opposite has blue shutters. From Bordeaux Airport Follow signs to Libourne. Take A 89 autoroute. Exit at Riberac sign via, Montpon. You go into the town, turn left and then immediately right at traffic lights, then over river. Follow signs to Riberac on D 708. After Echourgnac, go though La Jamaye village and take left turn on to minor road to Ponteyraud (cemetery on right of minor road as you turn left). At mini roundabout in Ponteyraud go straight over main road, bear left up hill for Festalemps, till you see the sign on the right for Laudibertie,at the top of the hill. The house is about 32 kms and 25 minutes from the autoroute and 115 kms or about 1 hour 20 from the airport, traffic willing. If you have a flight from Bordeaux allow two and a quarter hours travel time as the Rocard (ring road) is congested . Bergerac Airport. This is a bit cross country so best head for Mussidan,D 709 ,then turn left on D 38, for St Aulaye ,turn right onto D 708 for Riberac, then follow same directions as from Bordeaux from Echourgnac to the house. Address: Les Tournesols Laudibertie, Festalemps, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , St Aulaye, Dordogne, France. TN (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) From the South west eg Toulouse . Exit the A 62 at Agen and proceed via Villeneuve and Bergerac .Toulouse is about 3.5 hours. Alternatively you can go via Cahors and Perigueux (exiting at St Astier) to Riberac via the A 20 and A 89. Probably faster but on toll roads. At Riberac follow signs for St Aulaye, and turn left at Festalemps after about 10 kms.
