Unique Camp Wagon Retreat.
Our comfortable, cosy, self contained 4 room camp wagon feels like a gypsy caravan. Nestled in the high country of the Central Tablelands 2.5 hrs west of Sydney surrounded by snow gums and native wildlife. sleeps 3-4. The wagon is a wooden rail freight car from 1910 and taken off line in the 50's for a camp wagon. we have converted it to a comfortable, cute and cosy retreat to relax or use as a base for exploring the local area. There is a new verandah for your comfort to enjoy the warm evenings and shelter from the sun. Lovely gentle space. You can light a fire in the fire pit outside to enjoy the night sky and the spectacular Milky Way. We are now charging $10 for wheelbarrow of firewood. Guests have access to the rest of our property for walks, exploring or bird watching. Making art,music, writing or reading . Fat Wombat Farm is a classified Protected Habitat for vulnerable Flora and Fauna. Private space with easy access. Guests can come and visit us for information and necessities Otherwise the wagon is self contained and you can have private space. Mostly we are about getting on with our daily routine around the property. Most of our Fat Wombat Farm is a wildlife and flora protected habitat so there is an abundance of birds and other wildlife. We are 1,250 above sea level with snow often in winter and weather can be quite changeable and in winter it can get very cold. There are walks in the reserve adjoining and within 10 - 60 mins drive in any direction are spectacular places to visit. Like Mayfield Gardens, Jenolan Caves, Tarana, Wolgan Valley, Newnes, Abercrombie Caves etc. There are a number of local wineries. Bathurst is only 20 mins away by car and has many good cafes, restaurants, Bathurst Regional art gallery, fossil museum, movie theatre and Bathurst Entertainment centre, Mt Panorama Motor Museum and has a great farmers market fortnightly. Lots of info in wagon re places to visit and cafes,restaurants>Bathurst has a fascinating history, which you will notice with the beautiful architecture. From Sydney you can take the Blue Mountains train to Lithgow and a bus to the Yetholme gargage. A 2klm walk or if you call we can pick you up from the garage. You would need to check with Cityrail for train and bus timetables plus Jones Bros bus service does runs throughout the day. All beds have electric blankets. There is a gas heater in living area and electric heaters in bedroooms, toilet in the cabin is a composting toilet and there is a procedure for using it. It is noted on wall. We only use tank water, all rain water so fresh and sweet but please conserve. LGBTQI Friendly :) We have added an extra $10 in July and August for heating costs . Nights are very cold.
