Sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Treetops is a spacious, self contained one bedroom apartment overlooking its own 3 acres of woodland with distant Dartmoor views. Wembury beach and the coastal path is within walking distance or a short 5 minute drive, whilst the Ocean City of Plymouth lies only 6 miles away. Ideal for exploring or just settling in and enjoying the wonderful views from the hot tub, we think you will find it a special place to stay. With the usual modern conveniences, the apartment- which is attached to the main house but totally self contained - is well appointed with spacious kitchen (including washer/dryer), lounge/diner and a large bedroom with Super King size bed and superior bedding. Settle into the comfortable leather sofas whilst watching a movie (complimentary Netflix available) or enjoy quiet time in front of the wood-burner which will be laid ready for your arrival (additional logs can be purchased from us). Whilst WIFI is complimentary, it is prone to the usual variances associated with rural living. Outside, your covered patio has a table, chairs, hot tub and sauna. A BBQ is also provided. Enjoy the views across the steep garden and valley to Dartmoor in the distance or, get close to nature in the woods literally outside your front door. Whilst the dawn chorus is spectacular, evenings are also magical with our resident Tawny owls calling whilst you are relaxing in the hot tub. For those interested, borrow the bat detector to see what you can hear. There is an off-road parking space with a path leading to your own entrance. Because the path leading down to the accommodation and, in particular the steps into the woods are steep, it is not suitable for those with mobility issues. In addition, there is a beam separating the lounge from dining room with restricted head-height (height 173cm). If we are not available in person to welcome you, we will send detailed information for self check-in with a code for the key safe. We live onsite, but will not intrude on your stay. However, we are always happy to help with any questions or queries. We will also provide our mobile numbers should you need to contact us. On arrival there is a small welcome basket to help you settle in (please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements prior to arrival) with locally sourced products from Devon and Cornwall including tea and coffee and handmade natural Dartmoor soaps. For those on a shorter break of 3 nights or less, should you wish to use the hot tub, there will be a surcharge of £40 to allow for the associated costs of draining, refilling, heating and preparing it for your stay. Situated on the Plym-Erme trail, the accommodation is perfect for those wishing to explore on foot. Step outside your front door and walk along the path through the woods to the beautiful Cofflete creek and nearby nurseries or, join the picturesque coastal path at Wembury beach. There is also a seasonal foot - ferry taking you to the Yealm Estuary with highly regarded gastro pubs. The beautiful Wembury beach, managed by the National Trust, and the coastal footpath can be reached either by foot or with a short drive. There is a fabulous cafe and ice cream parlour directly on the beach. For the more adventurous, there are several local providers for experiencing the numerous water activities on offer such as: surfing, sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing. The Ocean City of Plymouth lies only 6 miles away with its historic Plymouth Hoe, Barbican, Mayflower Steps and the National Marine Aquarium. The city is bustling with well regarded restaurants and theatres and there are water taxis which give tours of Plymouth Sound and further access to Royal William Yard which also has many waterside restaurants and galleries. The newly opened Box is a multimillion pound gallery and museum complex housing artefacts of both national and international interest. In addition there are several local National Trust properties including Buckland Abbey, the former home of Sir Francis Drake. There is a nearby bus stop allowing regular access into town and local taxi companies. You are ideally located at the border of Devon and Cornwall -perfect for exploring beaches, Dartmoor and fishing villages further afield.
